WELCOME SWEET SPRINGTIME"
(a.k.a. "Good ole 14-A")

Welcome sweet springtime,
We greet thee in song,
Mummers of gladness,
Fall on the ear.
Voices long hushed,
Now hear full notes, prolong,
Echoing far and near.

{CHORUS}
Sunshine awaits for,
The flower that's from seed,
Joy giving incense,
Fall on the air.

Snowdrops and primrose,
Both timidly beam,
Hailing the glad new year.

{BARN}
Balmy in life,
Breathing breezes are blowing,
Swiftly to nature,
New vigor's bestowing.

Oh, how my heart beats,
With rapture anew,
Earth's flower in beauty,
Again feeds my view.

{CHORUS}
Sunshine awaits for,
The flower that's from seed,
Joy giving incense,
Fall on the air.

{BARN}
Snowdrops and primrose,
Both timidly beam,
Hailing the glad new year

Well, I still have not heard from ANY body that could answer my former
question about that episode of bonanza where Parley Baer (Mayor Stoner)
played a coucilman that was complaining about the sheriff, etc. then
apologized when the sheriff cuaght a bunch of bank robbers without using
his gun, and Mayor Stoner told him that he did it "AS A SHERIFF WITHOUT A
GUN".
question: Do you think the TAGS episode was first or the other way around?
Bonanza was a 1964 episode.Ideas could have been shared from either show
.
  My husband and I are curious.
thanks;
sheila from Branson

Hi Folks,

Just watched the episode where Miss Peggy stood in front of the drug
store for hours waiting for Andy. He waited at her house and then
went to phone home from the courthouse. Isn't the drug store right
across from the courthouse? Wouldn't he have seen her waiting there?
Or certainly she would have seen him... since she was just standing
there looking around.  Curious, cuuuurrious!

Mary, just gumming myself a cookie while I wait for the answer

The Season 4 DVDs surprisingly turned up in Saturday's mail. Watched 'em over
the weekend, and all episodes seem to be complete.

What I find interesting is...

Paramount used several master prints, PRE-laugh-track! "Opie the Birdman,"
"A Black Day For Mayberry," "Opie's Ill-Gotten Gain" and "Up in Barney's Room"
are laugh-track free.

While I realize that the laugh-tracks are part of the original CBS
presentations, I fully applaud this turn of events. I do not like artificial
laugh-tracks (love!!! Fox's MASH DVD audio option to view episodes with/without
the
laugh-track); I sorta resent a film editor laying in audio "instructions" that
tell
me what is, or is not, funny.

WBMUTBB 14th Anniversary: 25 Nov 1991 - 25 Nov 2005
     Friday November 25th will be the 14th Anniversary!

Friends,

I want to thank all of you that have written in about what the WBMUTBB
Chapter has meant to you. I'm sure all our members have enjoyed reading
the comments as much as I have. You still have a few days until the
actual anniversary date so please take a minute to send in your thoughts.

As a side note, I've been working on getting the Digest archives back on
line and will get there sometime in the fairly near future but the
reason I mention it is that during my work on the archives I just
happened to run across a note from WBMUTBB Chapter's Doug "Rafe
Hollister" Garretson dated 8/31/2000 5:07 AM. In that note he told us
of his upcoming marriage to his darling person whom he met right here
online...not on the Digest but in the old "Sarah's Chatroom" on
Mayberry.com. Below is what he said to us:

  ==================================

"Anybody here know why these two should not be wed, speak now or forever
hold your peace." - Andy Taylor

I love that line. It's the first one spoken in "The New Housekeeper", the
very first episode of our favorite show. That single line of dialog led to
so many more lines, and episodes, and memories.

I also love that line because it's sure to be spoken by the one who
performs the wedding that I'll be sharing with Stacey Woods, a WBMUTBB
member and the woman I love. We met right here in WBMUTBB, in Sarah's chat
room. And we'll be getting married shortly before Mayberry Days this year,
in fact, spending part of our honeymoon at that annual festival
celebrating "The Andy Griffith Show" and all things Mayberry.

I just wanted to share the good news with all our fellow WBMUTBB members,
and ask for your prayers and support. Stacey and I look forward to making
many memories of our own together in the years to come.

I'll see ya.
Doug "Rafe Hollister" Garretson
"The trouble with Barney is he isn't married. See, if he were married,
little things like this wouldn't bother him."

  ==================================

Things like this, sharing wonderful news and friendship, are the things
that make our little corner of Mayberry on the Internet a special
place. The fun thing is that we have two, and maybe 3 I'm thinking,
couples that met right here in Mayberry that married. I never expected
that type thing to happen but its certainly been a joy to see true
friendships and romances develop over the years.
