I know the subject about screen credits came up last month, but I was
wondering if Clint Howard was the only actor on TAGS to get screen
credit without saying a word. Can anyone think of someone else this
applied to?

Hey Allan - 14 years? I hope you'll be doing a similar post in 2019.
I'm gonna start polishing my hat for the 25th.

My husband and I were watching our TAGS dvds (Season 1 again - we love it!)
and he said, "Did I ever tell you that Earle Hagen came to my school when I
was growing up in Virginia?" I flipped out at that! I never got to meet
anyone from tv when I was growing up - much less someone connected to TAGS!
My husband said that Mr. Hagen talked to the students about the show and
whistled the theme for them. I asked my husband if he was really aware at
the time about TAGS and who Mr. Hagen was. He said that he knew enough
about the show to be somewhat aware of who Mr. Hagen was. Wow, what a great
opportunity, and he wasn't even old enough to really appreciate it! But I
thought it was a cool story, though! :) Lisa

Hi all, just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. My name is Pauline and I
was born and reside in Massachusetts. I have been a fan of Tags since I
watched the re-runs as a kid. I was two when the show started but can recall
watching Tags as a kid, so it must have been re-runs. ;-)

Tags to me was a bit of sanity in a sometimes unsane world. I love the feel
of a small town where everyone watched out and cared for each other. I also
so much enjoyed the t.v. relationship between Andy & Opie. As a child I
recall getting very upset with Barney as he always seemed to get Andy in
trouble or Andy had to get him out of a jam. This was upsetting to me. Now
as an adult I think Don Knotts' character of Barney is a hoot! I laugh so
much watching the B&W shows with Barney in them. I can't believe I got so
upset with him when I was a child. Ha Ha

I do Pit Bull Terrier rescue which takes up much of my time besides the
daily grind at work and I look forward to sitting in my recliner and
watching re-runs of Tags. It eases my mind and helps me relax.

Well I won't take up to much of your time. Just wanted to say hey, and
thanks for allowing me to join this group. I have been on digest bout a
week, I think, and can already tell that this is a nice group of people who
love Tags as I do!

Ps. Last week I received my dvd's of the first four seasons of Tags and am
having a great time watching them. Can't wait for Feb 06 for season 5. :-))

Thanks, Allan, for the Anniversary note to the Digest.
I was a member seven years ago when my very young mother died. I wrote a note
here, telling the members about how she watched the show during her illness
and how lines from the show, quoted by her six children, always made her smile,
even after she lost her ability to speak. (If she hadn't raised us watching
TAGS, I wonder how we'd have made her laugh.)
After I sent that email, I received several emails back from Digest members.
One member simply wrote, "That one made me cry." And that made ME cry,
realizing that people I didn't even KNOW showed that much concern and caring.
I remained a member until my computer crashed. I didn't get it replaced for
some time as I tried first to revive the old one. Long story short, I only
recently rejoined the Digest and am happy to be back.
I deeply appreciate all the good folks that reside here.
And I appreciate you, Allan, and all those who help you keep this little
corner of the world up and running.
By the way, I consider myself a neighbor of yours in more ways than one. I
live in Limestone County.
Again, many thanks!
Crystal

I have always thought that the episode "The Loaded Goat" was a little too
unbelievable, so I did some checking on the properties of dynamite. According
to the website which I used, which dealt with Police Canine Dogs being
poisoned, it stated that dynamite is highly poisonous and if a dog ingested
some dynamite it would go into convulsions and become very sick and would
probably die without immediate treatment. Now, I would assume the same thing
would be true with poor old Jimmy the Goat. Especially being that Jimmy had a
very good appetite and he did eat an awful lot of dynamite.

With that being said, it is not going to stop me from enjoying one of my
favorite episodes. I still go into stitches everytime Otis calls Jimmy "Uncle
Ned" and then when he grabs him by the horns and pulls him out of the cell.

A big thank you to Allan for going through his "old" files and
finding/posting the anniversary letter of long ago. It sure made the daily
reading of the Digest extra-nice. It also clued me in to what was happening
in the world of the Digest in those early years.
Thanks again, Allan!

Ken,

All I can say is:

"I have never seen that lamp. I do not know what spirit is evoked by
that lamp. And therefore...THEREFORE, I can not speak on the subject
intelligently."........"If you've never seen that lamp...don't talk."
"The atmosphere over there in Arabia is a LITTLE BIT different that here
in the south eastern United States."

I don't know how a goats stomach would react to eating dynamite. I know
that Aunt Bee has an elephant with a clock in his stomach though....as
far as dynamite....don't talk....if you've never had a goat eat
dynamite...then don't talk. :)

I happened to be watching an episode of "My Three Sons," the other day. Ernie,
who was the adopted son, found out he was allergic to Tramp the family dog and
was ready to leave the Douglas family. I remember, years later, seeing a
similar story line on The Brady Bunch where Jan was allergic to her
stepbrothers' dog Tiger. It got me to thinkin' (and I didn't even have a bucket
on my head) about the TAGS story lines. So I'll pose this question for
discussion. Can anyone think of instances in later television sitcom shows
where the story line was similar or the same as one in TAGS? Allan I can't
remember how long I've been part of the Bulletin Board but congratulations on
your anniversary and thanks for your dedication in keeping this board up and
running. I also appreciate the Prayers & Praise bulletin board. Cathy a.k.a.

I know anniversity isn't the correct spelling! My Mother in law always
wished us a Happy Anniversity and we kind of figured it was a cross between
anniversary and adversity! Just like any group or organization, there is always

some adversity, but it seems on this board there is a very minimal amount which

is always nipped in the bud!
Thanks to Allan for starting this group and keeping in going, and keeping it
positive! I can't remember when I joined the group, but it must have been
about 5 years ago and at times, just like the rest of you, I get tired of all
the comments on one subject, but then everyone is entitled to their own
opinion! More power to you!! Keep the comments coming and let us know what you

think!
What is so much fun is at Mayberry days to get together with the internet
group and meet all the ones you only know by screen name.
I want to brag just a little now....I am one of the few who attended both
statue dedications, the one in Raleigh and the one in Mt. Airy. A few more were

at the Mt. Airy one than in Raleigh! It was fun both times and I am glad I
had the opportunity.
To have met Allan, David, Phil Lee, "Opie" Jamie Sullivan, "Otis" Junkin,
Tim Goober Pettigrew, and the real Charlene, Thelma Lou, Ernest T, Jim Lindsey,

George Spence, "Elvis" Hoover, and to visit with Emmett Forrest in his
visitor center, that is all a great part of this group.
How much longer I can keep going I don't know. I have developed neuropathy
in my feet which makes it harder and harder to get around, but I keep trying
and will go to the Days as long as I can. It is the highlight of the year!
Thanks again, Allan for all you do and to Jan for being your helper and
photographer.

Howdy From Memphis!,
Now I don't know much about Freddy Fleet, but that
no-good-Ellie-stealin'-Bobby is the one I'm after. As soon as I can woo Miss
Ellie away from him,
I want to bring her back to Mayberry and settle down. I hear Barney is
selling real estate on the side.
And, if I may be so bold, I LIKE to eat Ritz crackers with peanut butter
while I watch TAGS. Its a "Good Cracker". Now if I could get a Nectarine
Crush to go with it I'd be a happy man.
Still looking for that job with Bobby Fleet, (and Miss Ellie)
Eric in Memphis.
