Hello folks,
I'd like to share a story with you. A friend of mine from Texas was
traveling by car to my home in upstate New York for a visit. His car
broke down in a very small West Virginia town. The parts needed to
repair the car would take 2 days to be delivered. So, my friend checked
into a motel. He called me and told me of his fate and that he would be
late getting to my house. He said there was nothing to do in the small
town and the only thing on TV were episodes of TAGS which were broadcast
all day long. I told him that he must have found a little piece of
heaven and I think that little town would be a great place for me to go
on vacation!

I did notice! Just yesterday I passed on the subscription info to a maillist
full of fans who were begging for info. Glad to see Goober and Floyd are
playing checkers, Barney is locking himself in the jail, and everything is
perfect again in Mayberry!

Just want to remind everyone that TV Land kicks off its TAGS marathon tonight
at 8 EST. It runs two and a half hours per night, and on Wednesday TV Land
will introduce a new "Top Ten" special devoted entirely to the top ten TAGS eps
chosen by cast members.

On episode #29 "Quiet Sam", this is the one where Andy delivers a baby.
I have seen this episode several times and never noticed before that there
is a family BIBLE on the table.
Andy is sitting at the table watching Barney and Sam talk about being in
service and the BIBLE is on the corner of the table.
Last Sunday while I was driving to a family reunion I saw a car do a
u-turn.
My dad looked at me and I started saying "citizens arrest, citizens
arrest", then we started laughing.
My mom looked at us like we were out of our minds, normal look see gives
us.
Margaret

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to say that my husband and I went to the Dillards concert Sat
July 17th at the Oakboro Music Hall and it was fabulous! I had never been to
Oakboro so I didn't know what to expect. The show was very informal and
intimate and I thought it was one of the best I had seen in a while. The
Dillards were very funny and I enjoyed the songs they did with Maggie
(Charlene) also. I especially enjoyed it when Rodney's wife joined the boys!
And I loved the stories that Rodney told of some of the many persons they had
played with and how they got started. It was just a great afternoon of fun,
clean entertainment. And we had dinner at the Fountain Grill and their
special for the day was a PorkChop sandwich!! Rodney mentioned that he and
his wife have a ministry but I did not get his website address. Does anyone
know the web address? I mentioned it to my pastor and he wanted to get him
at our church.
Jeff, if you are the one responsible for Sat let me commend you on a job well
done!
Thanks,
Teresa Elkins

Wow, its great to be back on the Digest. I was willing to crawl under that
there E-mail Server despite the spiders, and help prop things up, but glad
Allan was able to get it going again.
While I was traveling last week, I stayed with a friend. I happen to peek
in a bookcase and saw that I had more in common with this friend that I even
knew. He had a book called "The Andy Griffith Show". Now this was a book
about the show I had never seen (and I have 6 in my collection by Beck,
Clark, Habeeb, Harrison, Robertson, Fernandez, Brower, Pfeiffer). It was
yellow and white I think, about 1980 vintage, by Richard Kelley. I've been
out on the net and I see one similar for sale used (and I'll check Weaver's
or course) but the ones on the internet have pictures on the front, and I
don't believe this did. It just had Andy and Opie on the front, a drawing,
I believe. The ones show on the net have among other pictures, Barney
dressed up as Mrs. McGruger.
Is my friend's book an earlier edition of the same Kelly book? The last
several chapters are actual scripts from about 10 of the favorite shows. To
add a sentimental touch he had original newspaper clipping of Frances
Bavier's obituary. What a treasure to discover in my travels. I didn't
really have time to read it, so if it's the same book, I'll probably be
adding number 7 to my collection.

I was glad to get Allan's posting about the Digest being down for a week...I
was beginning to think I had broken a Rule and was being punished by not
receiving my daily wbmutbb Digests!
Thanks, Allan, for all your efforts to keep our little community running
smoothly. We all appreciate you and your devotion to TAGS!

Hello from The County Clerk,
I wanted to give a report on the show this past weekend in Oakboro NC. On
saturday we had 2 great shows with The Dillards and Maggie Peterson. THe
afternoon show and evening show was a huge sucess with a big enthusiatic crowd.
We did the same format in introducing the stars with the videos that were used
in New Castle. The stars really liked the evening and loved the cozy music hall
room. We plan on doing the same type show next year. Thanks to my buddy Jeff
Koontz for all the help. I was busy making sure the shows were in order and he
jumped in to help me take care of all the stars needs. Our next Mayberry event
will be Aug 20th when I host MAyberry Night in Oakboro. Tribute stars that will
be attending consist of David"Mayberry Deputy" Browning; Kenneth "Otis" Junkin;
Phil "Ernest T Bass" Fox; Jamie "Opie" Sullivan; Jeff "Howard" Branch and The
Local Darling Band from Oakboro. THere may even be another tribute star there
but we will anounce that later when I get a confirma!
tion.
CHeck us out at www.oakboromusichall.com
I plan on coming to Greenesboro this sat night for the Barney chapter meeting
since they are having a "Howard" night!!!!!
Take care,
