Calvin Coolidge 1872-1933, the 30th President of the United States said
two things that I know of for sure:
1. "The higher state to which she (America) seeks the allegiance of all
mankind is not human, but of Divine origin. She cherishes no purpose,
save to merit the favor of Almighty God." (From his 1925 Inaugural
Address)
2. "The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on
the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them if
faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our
country." (From his writings)
~"In essentials, unity; in nonessentials, liberty; in all things, Love."

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for
the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good
man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for
us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. -Romans 5:7

You'll recall, from her first appearance Helen was portrayed as having a temper
when provoked. She was, as a rule, one of Mayberry's more level-headed and
polite citizens, but had "a line" that when crossed -- usually by Andy not
being honest with her, or from his (or someone else's) unwarranted interference
with her teaching -- would set off a well-argued verbal assault.
This aspect of Helen's character is as fun to watch as, say, Barney getting
jittery. Yet another example of what makes TAGS so endearing: character-driven
(not joke-driven) humor.
(And you'd probably have a bit of an edge too if you had to grow up with the
last name "Crump"...)

Someone passed the remark earlier that Helen was snippier than Ellie
Walker or Nurse Peggy. This is true, but you have to remember that they
didn't date Andy for as long as Helen did. How would you feel if 3 or 4
times someone announced your engagement when it wasn't true? Or if your
b/f was paying more attention to an old family friend or forgetting to
come & eat at your house or any of the other things that happened to
Andy & Helen. No offense, but I think a little Goober goes a long way &
if he were my b/f's friend I might get snippy around him myself.

Hey folks,
I posted this message last week but just in case you didn't get it, I'm
firing it off again.
I have added a few new items to the Mayberry Emporium website:
TAGS Scripts
These are copies of the actual scripts used to film the show. It is great
fun to watch an episode and read along. I currently have 4 scripts available:
"The Darlings are Coming"
"Barney's First Car"
"A Girl for Goober"
and the super rare "Return to Mayberry"
I am always looking for more scripts. If you have a script and would
consider sending me a copy, I will send you any 2 regular scripts or a "Return"
script for you trouble. Just email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
(mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) or [EMAIL PROTECTED]
(mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) and let me know what you have.
Now for some REALLY NEAT items:
I know you all remember the FANTASTIC âHamilton Collectionâ plates that
were available starting in the early 90âs. These 8 plates have become highly
sought after collectors items.
I have a set of the plates and thought how neat it would be if I could get
the artist to sign them for me. I contacted Mr. Tanenbaum and he graciously
agreed.
He also told me he had the ORIGINAL PAINTINGS if I was interested. HECK
YES!! Unfortunately right now my financial status won't allow me to own these
wonderful works of art. However, Mr. Tanenbaum has consented to offer his
original paintings at the Mayberry Emporium.
Keep in mind these are the original paintings. There is only one of each.
His paintings regularly sell for 10âs of thousands of dollars. He is making
these special prices available to the fans of the Andy Griffith Show. If
anyone
is interested in purchasing all 8, there is a special price. Just email me
for details. Please don't reply back to the digest. use my personal email
address.
Remember visit Weaver's Department Store for all of your Mayberry items.
Then if you are still looking to buy come on by the Mayberry Emporium and say
"Hey"
_www.mayberry-emporium.com_ (http://www.mayberry-emporium.com/)
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in Mt. Airy. It's gonna be BIG!!!
Take care,
Gary, AKA Bert at the Emporium

Thank you Allan. You are a prince of a fellow for fixing the digest.

On the TAGS Chapter Charter paper I have hanging over my desk the mission
statement says.
"TAGSRWC is dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of watching TAGS."
I want to ask if some of you nice folk from the digest would promote TAGS with
me. I live is the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and the local UPN29 station that
was playing TAGS every weekday at 11:00am and 11:30am pulled it from it's
programming schedule. They didn't even put the show at a different time. To
make things worse they put on Divorce Court and Judge Hatchet in it's place.
I am wondering if some of the Minnesota TAGS viewers could write the Program
Director of UPN 29 and say how much you enjoy TAGS. Even if do not get this
station it wouldn't hurt to let the Program Director know how much this show is
loved all around the world. I don't have TV Land I sure would love to be able
to see TAGS again, or at least tape it.
Here is the link to the Program Director of UPN 29.

Thanks everybody!
