VHS tapes or DVDs... the only answer! :-)

Thanks to one and all for sharing your Mayberry Days adventures and times
with us. I've loved reading all the accounts and don't feel quite so left
out anymore. Thanks again!

And away we go......

It ain't a Blue Willow pattern, but you get TV Land.

There's a movie on TCM just now that has Ernest T. portraying a regular
guy who is married to Patti Page; it's called Boys Night Out and doesn't
look like my kind of movie but it was interesting to see him for a few
minutes. Also, I got a new Mayberry DVD recently at WalMart with a
different cover than I'd ever seen so I bought it even though it has
those same uncopyrighted episodes from that one time period; it has
scenes I've never seen before so I've really enjoyed it. Y'all need to
keep an eye out for it; I got it in Memphis when I was outrunning
hurricane Ivan! I met lots of TAGS fans due to my front license plate.

The show is still carried on TV land at 9 PM nightly. Not as much as I would
like, but once a day is better than none at all!
It sure is great to be getting the digest once again! Thanks to Allan for
setting things right....rather telling me how to set things right!

Go to Wal Mart and get the 16 episodes that are available on DVD. I got all 16
episodes for $5.00. Then ask for the November release of the first season for
Christmas. (like I already have.) You can even place an order from
Amazon.com now and they will send it to you as soon as they get it. We don't
get cable anymore but have been able to limp by with the DVDs until more come
available.

And remember there are only two rules here at the Rock. Watch TAGS anytime you
like and don't forget to walk down to the fillin' station every now and again
for a soda.

I just finished reading four weeks of WBMUTBB digests as I just got back
from a trip to the "old country". I found Heckmondwike on the map and
planned to visit, but transportation was a problem. We were going to
hire a car, but you can't imagine what they were asking. Shocking it
was, just shocking! I did, however, eat a Cornish Pasty. And there was,
indeed, meat and potatoes in one end and when I worked my way to the
other end.......more meat and potatoes! No plum pudding! What's up with
that? Malcolm wouldn't have made it that way. They also have something
over there called Yorkshire Pudding and it's not really pudding at all.
It's a baked, crusty, bready orb-shaped thing that you're supposed to
fill with gravy. And it wasn't until I was having my second experience
with eating it that I looked down at the gravy soaked thing and
realized....Gravy Sandwich! Fred Goss must have sprung off of those
Englisters!

Danny O'Brien, thank you SO MUCH for the video of Andy's speech. As a
long-time attender of Mayberry Days from oh, I guess the late 80's, it
sickened me to find out that Andy would finally be visiting this year
and I already had a trip scheduled. It helped me to be able to be there
a little bit. (My husband, a non-believer, scheduled our vacation!) We
spent a few days in Paris and were walking the streets one night trying
to decide where to stop to eat and I said, "Anything is ok with me as
long as it ain't snails and brains." And it went Whoosh....right over
his head. I will say one thing about him though. We saw a crowd of
people standing around at one point and he said to me, "Let's go over
there and as Andy would say, 'see what all the fuss is about' ". I was
proud. I was SO proud!

Hello all ... I'm back from vacation and thought I'd share my Mayberry Days
Report.

Mayberry Days was incredible again this year!! A lot more relaxing too
since we weren't planning our Mayberry Wedding!
We arrived in Mount Airy on Wednesday morning to do a little shopping
before the crowds arrived. We also made sure we went to the Snappy Lunch
for a pork chop sandwich. We even got a chance to talk to the friends we
made last year at the Main Oak Emporium. Thursday we went to Pilot Mountain
and hiked around to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We also ran into some
fellow TAGS members from Indiana while we were there! Friday morning we
were up bright and early to head into town to see Andy. We arrived probably
2 hours before the event started and there were already quite a few people
there. We ended up standing behind some fellow Ohio Mayberry fans so that
was pretty nice getting to talk to them while we waited for Andy. Oh it was
incredible to actually see Andy Griffith in person... it was a dream come
true!!! Well, I couldn't see him too well since I'm only about 5'3" but I
could see the top of his head if I stood up on my toes. I just laughed and
handed the camera to my husband since he's 6'3".... needless to say he had
a better view than I did. We moved through the crowd and headed to the very
back of the crowd were it was uphill. I could actually see him then....
granted I had to look through the binoculars but who cares, I had a clear
view of ANDY GRIFFITH!!! It was sooooo great! Later on we headed over to
the look at and get some pictures of the new statue. I was then standing up
by the road waiting for my parents and a car drives by really slow with
police standing around the car. I was wondering what was going on and I
couldn't believe my luck.... it was Andy!!! I was about 8' away from Andy
Griffith!!! He even looked at me and waved!!! Can you believe it!!! I just
stood there in awe!! By the time it dawned on me I should take a picture I
was surrounded by a bunch of people trying to do the same and I couldn't
see him any more. Oh well, no picture but that's a moment I'll never
forget!!!
Saturday we went to the auction to look at all the great items they had. We
then walked around trying to find some of the people we meet last year.
Sure was a lot more difficult this year to find people this year than it
was last year! We did find and got to say hi to our favorite deputy David
"Barney Fife" Browning. We stood back for awhile and watched him do his
"Barney thing". I tell you he's goooood!!! I just love watching him talk to
people and get his picture taken. He's an amazing Barney. It's just amazing
how he has all of Barney's mannerisms down. I love the way he hands out his
autographs... makes me laugh every time... just like Barney handing out
tickets. I tell you the tribute artists make Mayberry Days!!! We never did
find Allan "Floyd" Newsome or any of the other tribute artists. We looked
and looked but with the huge crowds this year it made it difficult. We did
find Jim Clark and got to talk to him for a little awhile. He must be so
proud... Andy mentioned him during the statue dedication. Andy said if
anyone had any questions about the show they should ask Jim Clark. Wow....
what an honor to have Andy Griffith say something like that!!!

Well we had a wonderful time spending our one year Mayberry anniversary at
Mayberry Days. Looking forward to seeing the pictures others have taken.

Have a Mayberry kind of day,
Jennifer... the Mayberry Bride
