Hello Everyone,
I am on the hunt again for things for our Pastor's Mayberry Dinner. It is
coming up in Nov and it is sure to be a "hoot". Our pastor's wife has been
very sick so this is going to be a much needed evening of fun for him and his
wife. I just ordered my Deputy and Sheriff Badge from Weaver's and my
Deputy patch but there is no Sheriff patch. Does anyone know where I can
find such a thing? I want them to match so I ordered two Deputy patches just
in case. I figure no one will really pay attention.
If anyone can help give me a holler!!
Thanks!
Teresa Elkins

Take courage fellow envious Mayberrians, we can weather these emotions if we
console ourselves with a swig of mulberry squeezings (or mug of rootbeer) and a
couple of choruses of "Low and lonely".
I really am glad everyone had a wonderful time, really.

I had a Mayberry Moment in church Sunday. My pastor had a sermon about
people who weren't growing in the faith but should be and he said they
were obtuse. Of course, I had to tell him that the title to his sermon
should be Barney's quote of "I hate it when you get obtuse." He said
hate was a little strong, so I changed it to "I dislike it immensely
when you get obtuse." Oh, I also promised him that I got more out of
the sermon than just the word obtuse and a good title. It was a great
sermon, but I also enjoyed the accidental reference to ol' Barn. :)

Today was a big day for Mayberry alumni. Harlan Robinson (organ owner)
was on Gunsmoke, then Jubel Foster was on Bonanza!

Just wanted to say what a great time we had at Mayberry Days this year. We
were some of the early birds who arrived about 6:30 a.m. Can't believe we were
out standing in the dark waiting to see Andy, but it was indeed a great
experience. Was glad to see that it got some TV coverage and attention, as we
know
Mayberry is BIG news. We enjoyed shopping at Weaver's Dept. Store, the folks
there are always so nice and helpful. Of course we had to go to Wally's Service
Station and set out front in the rockers and have a bottle of pop, it was
great, we had to call home to let everyone know we were enjoying a orange
crush,
and watching the squad cars go by. We enjoyed the Dillard concert and Michael
Hoover, our Mayberry "Elvis" just put on a terrific show. It was really
enjoyable. Of course Howard and Goober joined in for a couple of numbers and
really
had the crowd going. We finished off our trip with the bowling tournament which
went till 1:00 am. We were tired as a dog, but having the time of our lives.
It was good to go back to our "home" town of Mayberry even if just for the
weekend. As always "Barney", "Floyd", "Otis", "Howard", "Brisco", "Aunt Bea",
and "Goober" were just amazing. These guys just really make the weekend fun,
they're always out there working hard and ready for a photo or autograph and go
non stop. Thanks to all the folks who work so hard on Mayberry Days. We do
appreciate you. Mayberry thanks you, and happy motoring. Diane

I was watching TAGS last night and it was the episode where Barney was going
into the Real Estate Business.
Barney and Andy were at the Sheriff's office and Barney was talking on the
phone when he took the (candle-stick) phone away from his face to tell Andy
something.
I thought he took the earpiece
and put it to his chest and left the mouthpeice open to where others could hear
what was being said.
If I saw it correctly, it should have been the other way around.
Did anyone else notice?
Normally, I wouldn't have paid any attention but since I have been reading this
column and have all the books, etc., I try to notice those little flubs.
