Just so everyone knows, I did make it to Mayberry Days. I just read the
WBMUTBB today and noticed an email from Larry in Peak, SC wondering if I went.
I
closed the store, my husband and I jumped in the car and we got there Thurs.
nite. We saw Andy the next morning and then walked around the town. The first
thing I looked for was the bullet keychain that I found at the Five and Dime
Store.
The very best thing that happened was when we went to the Main and Oak
Emporium. We hadn't had much breakfast and about 10:30 am we found Midkiff's
Restaurant. It didn't open until 11 am so we decided to wait. There was
hardly
anyone around when the place opened and we got right in. There was an L-shaped
table beside ours that said "reserved" on it. After we ordered, who walked in
but Betty "Thelma Lou" Lynn! With her was James Best, and George Spence!
Betty had to squeeze past my chair to get to her table and I said "We're just
thrilled to see you." She thanked me and patted me on the shoulder. After
they
got seated the Dilliards walked in and sat down at the same table. Then
"Charlene" came in and sat next to Betty. There were about 15 or 20 people at
the table by the time they all arrived. When we left, the restaurant manager
said to my husband "We weren't allowed to breathe a word about this to
anybody."
(I thought maybe Andy would walk in too, but he didn't.) Well anyway, it
was the highlight of the trip.
We went to the trivia contest in the afternoon and walked over to see Andy's
homeplace and Wally's garage. Everyone was "nice, real nice" and we
thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Hey to everybody,
Brenda "Bee" in New Concord, OH

I had a Mayberry moment at work today. We had a gentleman that was onsite
doing some
training for a new account and I had asked one of my co workers who he was.
Later that
day the same co worker looked at me very seriously and said "You know the guy
in the red shirt over there? Know what I'm gonna give him?" I said "No, What?"
He said "The Big Freeze"
I almost fell out of my chair laughing. Just goes to show ya TAGS is everywhere.
Dapper Dan
Hey Ange, lets give him the big freeze.

A while back they aired the episode where Barney captured the convicts
hiding in the trailer park by driving away in their trailer while they
were inside it. That was the firts instance I ever saw of Barney
capturing a criminal w/o Andy's help.
Tonight I saw the 2nd instance when Barney tangos Big Maude out the
front door so that Andy could handcuff her.
Glad to know that at least twice Barney caught a criminal without
assistance.

I was watching the Dinner at Eight episode recently (Poor Andy!!) and I noticed
something I never had before. When Opie came home early from his Boy Scout
campout, the front door of Andy's house was locked. Goober had to unlock the
door so Opie could get in??? I don't ever remember any other time that the
door was locked, do any of you???
As most of you know I am the only TAGS fan at my house but my husband Dave
seems to be coming around. Last week we were discussing each of our families
ancestry, and I mentioned that Dave's grandpa always reminded me of an Irishman
for several different reasons. I then reminded Dave that a cousin of mine had
traced my family back to England. Dave totally caught me off guard when he
looked at me, squinted his eyes and sort of growled at me..... "You Englishter
you....!!!!! I just totally cracked up!
.........you didn't say nothin' about throwin' bricks........

Was watching the episode last night where Opie publishes and distributes gossip
in his newspaper (preacher's sermons are "Dry as Dust" and "Sue Grigsby is
blonde out of a bottle") and Barney refers to high school as "Central High". I
thought he and Andy went to Mayberry Union High. What gives?
