A sad for Mayberry folks and everyone in our community. Most of you have
probably heard about the crash of a commuter just outside of our town
(Kirksville, MO) on Tueseday evening. My fellow historians at Truman State
University are especially saddened that the mother-in-law of one of our group
was on the flight and did not survive.

Many of the passengers were en route to participate in a conference at the
medical school in Kirksville. They were to present a seminar to help
prospective doctors be "compassionate and caring" physicians, sensitive to the
feelings and struggles of their patients. Certainly this was a great loss.
And certainly their mission recalls much of why most of us cherish the Mayberry
spirit--a deep sense of caring for everyone in the day at hand, not in a future
that may never happen. Please keep these families in your prayers. Mark
from Missouri

Allan
I'll be going to LA on business next week, and will have a little time on
Sunday to see something. I know you and your family visited Franklin Canyon
last year, where you made an Andy/Opie video with you and your son. Anyway, can
you advise me on how to locate the spot around the lake where you made your
video, landmark, etc.? I remember you had said it's the same spot Andy and Opie
walked.

Thanks so much,
Eddie Jones in GA

Hey everybody. I was just wondering if the nice person who posted how
to put the Andy Griffith tunes on your computer when you hit certain
keys or commands could repost it. I have misplaced it. Right now I
have the fishing hole tune play when I cut my computer on and I have
Andy say "oh, now you have really done it' when I cut my printer on and
Briscoe saying "everybody on the truck" when I close out a program and
stuff like that. I wanted to change some of the saying and have
forgotten how. If you read this, whoever you are, please post it on the
digest again. Thanks, Horatio (Kevin)

I always loved Charlie Ruggles as an actor. I don't think I ever saw him as
a "meany," I only remember him in the kindly persona we saw as Aunt Bee's
beau last night. I watched it twice.
