I don't know if it's the same cannon, but in the original 1960 episode, the
cannon ends up being sold back to the town (to Andy's and Barney's chagrin) in
the show's epilog.

If you remember in the cannon episode epilog, the person who was going to
donate the plaque to Mayberry ended up buying the cannon from the antique
dealer and then he donated it back to the town. Thus the reappearance of
the cannon. However, the town must have decided to spend some money on
repairs, because in the museum episode, it no longer had the split end.
Maybe the heirs of Teddy Roosevelt donated money to have it restored.

I though Warren was a good character. His connection as Floyd's nephew
was well planned, its a shame he didn't last longer in Mayberry. In
reference to Jeff' posting,
I believe at the end of the episode with Ellie & The Cannon, that
another cannon was
given to the town, thus the replacement. Also, the town band seemed to
be reactivated
in the episode where The Taylors left for Hollywood, but they still
sounded the same
as ever(guess new uniforms didn't help)..........Dave In New Phila,

In the episode where Andy sells the cannon, we miss a very important piece of
Mayberry "history" because the epilogue has been chopped and many people never
saw it. In the epilogue, Milford Phillips (I believe) makes a donation to the
Town. Turns out the donation is the cannon that Andy sold to the salesman. I'm
pretty sure this is how the cannon got back to Mayberry after Andy sold it.
This is perhaps one of the most important epilogues ever chopped out. It's
right up there with the epilogue in Dogs, Dogs, Dogs.

Don't you remember the epilogue of "The Horse Trader?" Milford Philips, the
man who planned to donate the plaque to replace the cannon, bought the
cannon from the antique dealer (not knowing its provinence) and donated it
to the town of Mayberry. I hope Goober's on his toes this weekend, since
one of his duties as deputy is to guard the cannon every Halloween, so them
disrespectful kids don't fill it up with orange peelin's and rotten
tomaters.

Did you ever wonder how Jimmy could survive CHEWING a whole bunch of
explosives, swallowing them and then be in danger of being bumped,
nudged or running into something.

Well, it made for a good episode anyways.

One of the many items that I brought back with me from Mayberry Days is a CD
that I bought in Weavers at the Enporium titled Searching the Map For Mayberry.
I'm not sure what I really expected when I bought it, but I listened to it
several times during the 8 hour drive. If you are a real Mayberry fan you
simply must get this CD ( it would make a great Christmas present). It is a
real treat to listen to Doug Reeves and the crew - it WILL make you smile no
matter how bad you may feel. It may also bring a tear to your eye as you
remember some of the pieces of Americna they sing about. I still listen to it
in the car and know all the words by heart. It was a great purchase that will
bring me enjoyment for many years.

Hello Mayberry enthusiasts, I don't post very often but I had some mental
problems and I am finally feel much better. I had the Mayberry County map
enlarged and still can not make out the little landmarks. The only one I was
able to decifer was the Robert E. Lee natural bridge. I plan to put this in a
picture frame & hand it on the wall.Starting from the left of the map going to
the far right- Can someone help me identify the little landmark marks. Thank
you in advance. Wayne in MD

I have a Samsung S307 phone and I have The Andy Griffith Theme as one of
caller groups tone. It is very good quality.
The site I found wasn't easy to get the tone downloaded from, but it is the
only one I have found.
You must have web access on you cell phone, and be a little more than a
novice on using it and the internet.
It requires you set up an account, and you have to buy "credits" with either
a credit card or a Pay Pal account.
I recommend only the Polyphonic tones from this site.
If you want to go to the site I suggest you read all instructions very
closely, and utilize the "Help" links as well.
The site is--

http://matrixm.com/

Click on the "Ringtones" softkey link icon, and do a search for "Andy
Griffith".
It will allow you to play them first. They have one that whistles the theme,
but it will only download 4 seconds of what you hear. That was
disappointing, but the Polyphonic one was very good also.
If you try this and find the tone you would want, and your phone is
compatible, you will be as pleased to get the tone as I was.
If you get stuck and need help, I wouldn't mind you contacting me by e-mail
for more detailed instructions.
But I will not even attempt to give these instructions by e-mail, but would
set up communication by phone.

After reading the article about Tatum O'Neal in that magazine, my wife
pointed out something that I thought was interesting. Joanna Moore
married Ryan O'Neal in 1964 and this was probably when she began to turn
for the worse. That's why she seemed so nice on TAGS. She did our show
before she married.

She should've given him the big freeze.

Crayola is coming out with a special edition box featuring colors from 50
states. North Carolina is represented by a purple "Grape Hatteras" crayon,
which was selected over various suggestions including "Mayberry Blue."

I don't know that we could come up with a box of 64, but there are lots of
colors in Mayberry...

Opie Orange
Thanks a lot Blue
How would you like to be called Yellow
Counterfeit Green
Floyd's eyes Azure
Black Day in Mayberry
