Not that long ago the Dollar General in our town carried Clark's Teaberry
gum. It's gooood! We used to get it all the time. I don't think they
carry it anymore, but they carry cinnamon. I've been out of town and
have only read the last few digests so I'm not sure how ya'll started
talking about teaberry gum. Is it in the show?? I would love to know if
it is and what episode.
Thanks!
Oh, on my vacation we toured a historical museum that had a telephone
very similar to the one in the kitchen of the Taylor home. We had to
take a picture of me "calling Barney". The tourguide had a good laugh at
that.

The Oct. 29 edition of the USA Today magazine has a full-color advertisement
touting the Mayberry Village collection (decorated for Christmas) from
Hawthorne Village (a division of The Bradford Group that also offers The
Bradford Exchange, Hamilton Collection and a host of other collectibles)
that looks strikingly similar to the sets that Hawthorne Village offered
from 1993-1997. After doing an exhaustive search to locate a phone number, I
was finally able to contact the company. Unlike the original Mayberry
structures that were ceramic, those currently being offered -- the
courhhouse, Wally's Filling station, Floyd's and the Taylor home -- are cold
poured from artist's resin. The figures are also artist resin, not pewter
like the originals. The ad does not explain what will constitute a complete
set and even the company's customer service department didn;t have full
details. The new ad pictured the Mayberry Courthouse, Floyd's Barber Shop,
Wally's Filling Station and the Taylor Home. The original collection had
additional buildings that included the Bluebird Diner and All Souls Church.
The resin buildings are being offered for three payments of $16.75 each
(compared with $39.90 total for the ceramic buildings) but figures are
tossed in free with each building. The resin figures are posed differently
that the originals, which were sold in pairs as sets, like the various
accessories. I could not find out if there are any additional buildings
beyond the four, nor which figures or accessories will be available
separately or as freebies when buying the buildings.

Another TAGS reference happened on 8 Simple Rules
last Friday night. David Spade's character was hired
to be the security officer at the high school
Halloween dance. James Garner's character asked him
"Was Don Knotts not available?".

In the original cannon episode, Barney was drowning his disappointment at
Walker's Drug Store. It was either ice cream sodas or milkshakes. Barn say's,
"I aught never to drink".
You'd think he'd have learned to go easy on all beverages.

PS: I'll bet we could come up with 64 Mayberry colors if we all put on our
thinking buckets. I remember Aunt Bee lining one of her jackets in red, even
though it didn't show she felt it gave her dress some pizazz. So we could add
"Red Lining" to the box. Also wasn't her bed jacket a shade of blue?

I had the most TAGS involved Halloween ever this year.
On Saturday night my wife surprised me when she said "yes" when I asked her if
she wanted to watch the "Haunted House" and "Opie's Three wishes episode of
TAGS. So we enjoyed that, and then I Sunday I decided I really want to try and
make a "Barn-O-Lantern" out of our pumpkin. To my surprise it turned out
pretty good! It wasn't quite as hard as I thought it would be. You just need
to make sure you have the proper carving tools. Next year I am going to try to
make a "Floyd-O-Lantern"! Thanks Allan, for posting the Old Rimshaw house
online every year.
If you want to take a look out my Fife-O-Lantern I have it posted on my blog.
If you come over, say "Hey" in the comment section.

There was a memorable 1961 episode in which Barney chews some gum while looking
for a crook who's looking for him--and when he catches him, he swallows his gum!

Did the subsequent reunion show where Thelma Lou and Barney become engaged
acknowledge Thel's prior marriage in any way, such as mentioning how Thelma Lou
becomes single again and why she moved back to Mayberry? I am referring to
the reunion show where there is some sort of Loch Ness monster reeking havoc on
the townsfolk, and Barney finally pops the question.

I specifically remember Barney mentioning that her marriage to the guy only
lasted 18 months or so. I forgot if he said why it broke up or how long she'd
been back in town, in fact I was led to believe she hadn't been back for long
in 1986.

Regarding crayon colors:
How about Mayberry Union High Orange and Mayberry Union High Blue?
The song goes: (I think)
Mayberry Union High
Victory is yours well nigh
We'll hit the line for points every time
The orange and blue will try, try, try, try.
And when the vic'try's won
You'll be our favorite son
Long wave our banner in the sky
Mayberry Union High!

Just in case this went by unnoticed, you can once again purchase the
Mayberry Village from Hawthorne. There was a full page ad in the USA
WEEKEND (a suppliment to the Sunday newspaper) on October 31. They look to
be the same as before.

We recognized Mayberry for this year's Halloween more than we ever have
before. Both my wife and I sat down and watched "The Haunted House" and
"Opie's Three Wishes". The latter has got to be one of my favorite
episodes. Then yesterday I carved my first ever "Barn-o-lantern". It was a
lot of fun, and easier than I thought it would be. However, I need it is
very important that you use a real store bought carving kit. Next year I
will try Floyd!
Take a gander at my pumpkin creation at the Mayberry section of my blog.

had the map enlarged, framed and want to identify these items- mark them and
hang the frame on my bedroom wall. Allan, maybe you can help? Thank you in
