give ourselves a last name! We could meet at the duck pond. Of course, we
will eventually change it to Fife.

Thanks, Paul, for telling us the name of your dog. It was starting to prey on
my mind. I'm intrigued by the King, we're stumped quote. Can you elucidate?
I took the Mayberry quiz and was surprised to find out I was Andy. Somehow I
don't feel quite good enough.
Maude, I was wonderin' if you're gonna send a holiday card to Barney and Andy?
They may take a drive up there to see you sometime.
Harriet - you ain't planning to pluck one of your chickens for Thanksgiving are
you? The wings might be from a chicken that's done a LOT of flying.

>>>I am pretty sure another gas station was mentioned on TAGS other than
Wally/Goobers station, but I don't remember it being called Cornwells??

In "The Loaded Goat" we learn that Mayor Stoner's brother owns a filling
station, but we aren't told the name of it. We're never told Wally's last
name either, so for all we know, Wally could be Wally Cornwell, or Wally
could be Wally Stoner.

By the time season eight rolls around, we know for sure that
Wally's/Goober's is the only gas station in town, but there may have been
others in the early years.

Last night my pastor was talking about fretting and how to stop doing
it. Sometime during the sermon, he said, "And as the great theologian,
Barney Fife would say, Nip it in the bud!" We've got several TAGS fans
at our church so that line was very familiar to most of us.

John Travolta has two planes.
John has a son named Jett, as in jet plane.
He has the planes right outside his house in Florida.
BTW the house is built like a small airport with a control tower in the
middle.
I saw photos of the house on Oprah.
BTW Oprah is a huge TAGS fan.

In the quiz I was Thelma Lou.
My dad calls me Barney, I tell him I'm not Barney, I'm Thelma Lou.
I guess I was proven right.

Margaret

The following is for all those who have not heard this information about
the Visitors Center there in Mt. Airy. I have sent my letters to the Mt.
Airy News, and the others mentioned below.
Please keep a good thought for Ann and her amazing staff.
Carolyn

>Dear Guys,
Just wanted this to come from me instead of from another
source....The Gilmer-Smith Foundation (the organization that I work for)
has released a letter this weekend stating that as of November of 2005
(one year from now), the blue historic home on North Main Street will no
longer be a visitors center. It will revert back to being the Robert
Smith Memorial House and Gardens housing the Andy Griffith Museum and
other exhibits. After 12 years of underwriting the Visitors Center,
they are hoping that another entity will step up to the table to finance
it and carry it on. We will still have Emmett's collection (thank
goodness!), Donna Fargo's exhibit and the other exhibits relating to the
"rest of the story".
This news has been a burden that I have had to keep within since
July. I have talked to my Board members 'til I was blue in the face
but I did go on record telling them that I felt it was a mistake and
that I regretted their decision and was saddened to hear this news. My
staff was informed this week and the letter went out to the City, the
Mount Airy News and other tourism entities on Friday. Please know that
we will still offer the warm welcome and hospitality that you have come
to expect here My staff will remain the same with the major difference
being that as of Nov. 2005, we have been asked to decrease our operating
hours to 35 - 40 hours a week. More importantly, it is my intent to
make this one of the BEST tourism attractions in the area....just as we
previously made it one of the BEST "little" visitors centers in the
country!! Help me spread the word.
Look forward to hearing from you. Yes, I wished for you to hear
this from me rather than reading it in the newspaper or hearing it on
the street.

Take care,
Ann

Ann,
I am sitting here wondering if it would be ok if folks to voiced their
opinion of the VC situation in letters.. I'm sure what's been decided,
is decided, but the hundreds and hundreds of people who have come to
love the VC should have a voice in it.
Please tell me your opinion and if you approve, who should the letters
be written to?
Love,
Carolyn

Carolyn,
I think that the letters should go to the Mayor (Mayor Jack Loftis, P.
O. Box 70, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or [EMAIL PROTECTED] , the Mount
Airy News c/o Phil Goble, Managing Editor or [EMAIL PROTECTED] ; and
David Beal, Secretary, Gilmer-Smith Foundation, 615 North Main Street,

"Hello Dolls!"
I just took the Mayberry Quiz, I'm a Thelma Lou. I couldn't be happier with
that characterization!!! What a doll she was and is, however anyone in mayberry
is someone to look up to "fer that matter." I really expected to be a Goober
but "Surprize, Surprize, Surprize" I'm a "Thelmer Lou"
Thanks Joshua for the time and effort you put into making up the quiz. I
enjoyed it and when I have the time I'm going back to the sight to read more of
what you had listed there, looks interesting! Mayberry folks are you know.
