This may have been mentioned before, but the other evening I saw part of a show
on Bravo that listed TVs 100 most memorable characters and our Barney Fife was
# 36. My husband was surprised that he wasn't higher.

I remember the Food Lion scandal from several years back. Most, if not all, of
the Food Lions in the North Texas area have closed. Makes you wish for a
neighborhood market like Foley's.

Perhaps Andy is reading the New York Times because Ed Sawyer brought it with
him?

I have now viewed all four of the new DVDs and had no trouble with any of
them. I'm just sorry I can't get my player to fast forward thru all the
opening stuff and get right to the good stuff! I've enjoyed having my
own TAGS marathons!

Wade, I have a few pics I stored on the computer, of Mayberry's squad cars.
A few of them have Wally's in the background. I am sending them to you
offlist but I wanted to let you know that here so you wouldn't think I was some
goofball sending you a virus or something.

Just received the DVD set from Weaver's and first watched this episode as
it's one of my favorites. One of the fun things I've noticed is an apparent
edit while filming the scene where Andy, Barney, and the townsfolk are
following Ed Sawyer up to the hotel. The camera is positioned near the
sidewalk as we watch Ed walk up the steps and into the front door of the
hotel. Immediately after Ed closes the door Andy's shoulder appears as he
leads everyone towards the hotel. If you watch carefully, in the instant
between Ed closing the door and Andy appearing to follow, the guy that's
sitting in the chair on the sidewalk in front of the hotel makes a sudden
change in position as well as the leaves on the potted plants. Perhaps they
filmed Ed going into the hotel and filmed Andy and the rest following
behind at two slightly different times. Love those DVD's!!

Can't you just see Floyd and Elvis hanging out together? I know, you have
to think hard to pull up that image, but I can just see Floyd calling Elvis
a prince.

I hate to bring negativity but there is an item on E-Bay now that is
probably a fake. According to Hawthorne Village, I was sent the entire
Welcome to Mayberry collection and there was no "Mrs. C's Bakery"
building. Either this seller was duped or is trying to fool us.
As they say, buyer beware.
