Hey, I did get my DVD's from Weaver's! I could not wait until Christmas and
it just seemed like the right place to get'em. Now, back to the museum
stuff! I did see Archie's chair, Fonzie's jacket, and Dorothy's ruby red
slippers at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. I don't think I ever saw
anything there from TAGS. They might have something though.they have
warehouses crammed full of artifacts that very seldom get displayed,
although they do rotate things on a regular basis. I saw one site that had
one of Barney's uniform shirts and necktie for sale at about $10,000, I hope
who ever buys it would donate it to a museum that would display it for
everyone to see. The museum in Mt Airey woutd be just the place for it!
They do have the suit worn by Otis and a suite worn by Andy in Matlock. I
have seen from time to time some things on ebay that were claimed to be
props used "on screen" for auction, but most of them are background props
and have very little significance such as one that was actually handled by
one of the actors in a scene. If anyone knows of another location of where
some of the props are on display, I would like to know.

I grew up in central North Carolina. My mother's family was from the Mt.
Airy area. I used to gaze at Mt. Pilot (really called Pilot Mountain State
Park) from the back yard of my maternal grandparents' home. I grew up
thinking all the names of places mentioned in TAGS were famous because they
were named on TV. But I digress....
Whoever did the language research for TAGS must have stayed late lookin'
things up...or maybe was a native of North Carolina. Many of the sayings
and phrases are authentic and are still used in the area. For example, when
making a decision before your "peaches are all fuzzed up" it kinda struck me
as something any average person would say...not a cute Southernism created
for a show in Hollywood. "Nip it in the bud" is a TAGS montra that was not
created by TAGS writers, but is a classic Southernism that I heard all the
time growing up. The term "samich" for sandwich is another example. I
could go on and on about the Southern Double Subjunctive and other
Southernisms, but that might be a bit obtuse.
I am getting my doctorate in psychology (so I have learned about those
kleptomeneracs and compelsions and so on). I had to write a substantial
paper on my own ethnic diversity. Most people in my class chose to write on
their family heritage of being German, French Canadian, or Irish. I did my
paper on being Southern and how the Southern culture and language make it a
distinct and separate culture group. When I presented my paper to the
class, everyone liked it (as evidenced by the "hoots" and "hollerin'"). I
made an "A+" on it and I was asked to submit a copy of my paper as the best
paper in the class.

I was listening to NPR's Old Time Radio on Sunday evening. They replayed an
episode of "The Sixshooter".
Jimmy Stewart was the narrator, and Howard McNair played the part of
Ebinezer Scrooge.

I believe a TAGS item in the Smithsonian is an outstanding idea!!! This is
absolutely amazing - I was thinking the exact same thing!!! (Sorry Barney!) If
we could get together on an item to go to the Smithsonian, as resident
"Brilliant Barrister" I would be happy to volunteer to write the request if
needed. What does everyone think? What items might be possible? What items
might be avaialble?

Could someone please tell me how to get the TAGS theme for my cell phone? I
tried www.supermegaphone.com and did not have any luck. I did a Google search
and still did not find any ringtone web sites that have the TAGS theme. I know
it must be out there somewhere. Could someone please help me find it? You can
e-mail me off the digest at [EMAIL PROTECTED] . Thanks.
