Hello all,
Several months ago I got a copy of "There is a Time". Sadly the bottom row of
lyrics is cut off of the copy. I have the music but no lyrics. Does anyone
have the complete lyrics with all three verses to the song? If so please
e-mail me off the digest and let me know.
I greatly appreciate this,
The County Nurse

>>>In the intro on one episode, you actually see Opie's rock go into the
water and make a splash. For the life of me, I cannot remember where I saw
this so I guess I'm going to have to get out my VHS collection and look
through it.
Has anyone else seen this?

Actually, EVERY episode originally started like that. For those who don't
know what we're talking about here, when you watch TAGS today, in the title
sequence you see Andy and Opie walking with their fishing rods. The
announcer says "The Andy Griffith Show, starring Andy Griffith, with Ronny
Howard," and in most b&w episodes, he adds "also starring Don Knotts," and
that's it, but the original opening sequence didn't end there. 1960 TV
audiences saw a close-up shot of Opie's rock splashing into the water, and
the announcer continued with "...brought to you by ..." followed by a
commercial for a General Foods product. This last part was cut out when the
show entered syndication, since there was no longer just one sponsor. The
original closing credits were different, too. Andy and Opie walked backed
down the road in the opposite direction, carrying the fish they'd just
caught, while pictures of GF products (such as Post cereal, Sanka coffee,
and Jell-O) popped up in the corner of the screen. Opie drops one of the
fish, and stops to pick it up.

Anyway, a few of the episodes on the TAGS VHS tapes produced during the late
1980s included these original credits. Seems like I have such a tape
somewhere with one of the Ernest T. Bass episodes on it.

Hard to imagine Floyd firing anybody. Even with Madelyn Grayson, he was
worried about how she took it. He certainly would have been concerned about
how Elvis felt after being fired 3 times!

For anybody who appreciates just a smidgeon of Mayberry in a Warner Brothers
musical, I would strongly recommend Harold Wilson's 'The Music Man' on DVD as
well as the motion picture soundtrack on CD. Ronny Howard, has a fairly
prominent role as Winthrop Paroo. 'The Music Man' was released after the first
two
seasons of TAGS were in the can. Ronny sings in the numbers 'The Wells Fargo
Wagon' and 'Gary, Indiana.'
Casey Adams a.k.a. Max Showalter, from the TAGS episode 'The Horse Trader',
shines in his small role as a traveling salesman singing on the train in 'Rock
Island/Iowa Stubborn.'
Singers Renee Aubry and Delos Jewkes seen in Mayberry's choir, also appear in
this film. Delos Jewkes was the bass singer who sneaks off from the choir to
go backstage to "sing" for Barney in 'Barney and the Choir.'
