Had to comment on tv then, reception was bad anywhere. Way out in Mayberry
it would have been nearly imposs-ible. There were probably only two networks
and perhaps two other local outlets w/even less power.
Tv was only on from about 6-a.m. to 10-p.m. Remember there was only a
15-minute, once a day newscast. Tv hadn't yet become a staple necessity in
the American daily life.
People could still have FUN w/out being directed by a movie producer.
Albeit I admit I'm here on a Sun. morning (when I should be in All-Souls)
and emailing while a Three Stooges dvd plays on my PowerMac!
I'd be playing my TAGS dvd if my son's would give it to me. They've gotten
me all the video's, books, license plate frames, buttons & etc., but no dvd.
On another note has anybody noticed the frame-jumpers broadcasters use? They
cut scenes and use time com-pressors to cut a frame out of every picture
(three frames). It saves maybe three minutes out of a 25-minute ep. Together
w/cutting scenes out it makes for interesting viewing.

That's true later on, too. We know Archie and Edith Bunker, Norm and Cliff,
and Ray Barone (and his father Frank) watch lots of TV, but we *still* don't
see them do it that often. It's just not that interesting to watch other
people watch TV unless there is something special about it. I think the
Taylors
watched maybe slightly less, but still a respectable amount of TV. They
definitely knew who Marshall Dillon was, and remember, that TV repair shop was
a
profitable part of downtown Mayberry for years.

Every time I see or hear a line from TAGS, invariably my mind starts to
play the scene. I'm sure that we as loyal TAGS fans have cameras in our
heads as well....so when you fine folks start reelin' them lines
off....even though TAGS may not be on the tube at that time.....I can
still watch it...in my head! No matter where I am I just "watch my
mind." One time I was at the store....and I heard a clerk
say...(without ANY reference to TAGS..."Crazy....guess I wasn't
thinking!"...boy did I have fun with that one....not many folks in the
store realized the TAGS lines....but I did!

I believe it was back in 2001 or maybe it was 2000. I did a show in
Virginia, and
Betty Lynn, Jean Carson and Ronnie Schell rode to and from
our hotel to the auditorium with me a couple times in my
63 squad car. So I had a great time conversing with them, and on one
occasion
Ms. Carson told me that Rod Serling wrote the episode "A most unusual
Camera"
for her. Being an amateur writer, I know that when writing, you
sometimes picture
certain people in certain roles, that may have been very well what
Mr. Serling did.
But anyway Ms. Carson is a warm, caring, and wonderful person, as are
all of the
actors from the show that I have had the privilege of meeting.

It's now official. Gaylord Opryland Resort has changed the date of its
Mayberry Cast Reunion to the weekend of June 18 to 20, 2004. The reunion was
originally scheduled to be a week later, but the resort didn't have enough
rooms
available that weekend to accommodate everyone expected to attend the event.
As
of now, all other details about this Mayberry cast reunion remain the same as
originally announced. Only the date has changed. A lineup of stars attending
likely will be announced fairly soon.
