Didn't Clara/Bertha Edwards/Johnson live right next door. It always
seemed like she did, and I think it was confirmed in the episode where
Opie can't decide between Piano Lessons and Football Practice.
Clara and Aunt Bee are relaxing at Clara's and can hear the sounds of
the non-Opie practicing while "the boy" is really throwing the ole
pigskin around down the street.

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hey folks,
I just thought I'd let you guys know ahead of time before I list this item on
eBay. I am going to try to sell my TAGS 16mm film collection. There are 53
episodes in all. I will include a lot of extras including 2 projectors. The
collection may be a bit pricey for some, but I am asking well below what I have
in
it. I have enjoyed them for a few years and now I would like to pass it on.
If you are interested e-mail me directly (please don't clutter up the digest):
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
and I will e-mail you a complete list of what I am offering.
Thanks,
Gary

Go for that overwhelming kind of love, not a match of convience. A rose poem
can stir the flames of passion. When you argue with your best girl, don't go
out with a fun girl on the rebound. Don't confuse your mother figure with your
true love. Don't try to make your boyfriend jealous by flirting with his best
friend, or kissing Gomer. Don't egg anyone on unless you want them to butter
you up. And remember, when someone marries you the polite thing to do is marry
them right back.

Hi everyone,
We have TiVo and I did a search for Don Knotts last night. Thought this
might be of interest for those of you with cable.

investigate the disappearance of Captain Moody. Airs Monday, 1/26 at 11:30
EST.
2. "The Spooky Fog" (1972) The gang visits Juneberry and Officer Don Knotts.

Will Wright is an excellent character actor with an impressive movie list -
see www.imdb.com. He's in one movie that I often wonder if it gave Andy
Griffith the idea for the ghost story he told on the camping trip - The Man
With The Golden Arm.
Someone asked if Andy Giffith's Home Place is a bed and breakfast - with one
and a half bedrooms it would be hard pressed to call it that.......
Someone asked about the Taylor's neighbors. The only time I remember anyone
talking to anyone "over the fence" was in A Rose Is A Rose. Their neighbor
listened to Andy and Aunt BEE discuss her Pink Ecstasy. Andy refers to a
neighbor when he thinks their cat got the momma bird. And he borrows a
neighbor's sewing machine to repair the town band's uniforms. Because the
church sometimes appears across the street from their house and sometimes
not, I bet the neighbors change with the seasons too.....if a house number
can change from one epsiode to the next, so can neighbors. We never know how
far from the Taylors that Clara Edwards lives but isn't it strange that she
just happened to be walking past their house with her groceries when she
offers to make a nestlerod pie for Edward Andrews (his charactor's name
elludes me right now - no bucket handy).
Watched the Female Prisoner this morning and started wondering what
situations Andy is completely beside himself - she bedazzles him and he
almost falls for her feminine ways before he realizes she's a prisoner and
comes to his senses. What other "A situation, that's what we've got, a
situation." scenes does Andy seem to be out of charactor?

Last time I was in Mayberry I saw Jeff Pruitt standing on the corner,
picking up girls and saying, "Just checking, ma'am."
Gotta get the Fun Girls to entertain the bachelor party for the groom and
groomsmen...........while Gomer and Goober take the bride and bridesmaids
out for dancing and doing Cary Grant and Chester impressions.
The reception has to be in the church basement- by now they might have the
money to buy that pool table. Thelma Lou can serve her finger sandwiches.
Instead of a limo - what about the hearse that Monroe uses to haul the TVs
in the shop?
Jenny and Craig - what were you thinking - you missed all these fantastic
opportunities! :)
Harriet, I'll just get married in the chicken coop, thank you very
much............

When Andy and Barney were having the rummage sale to help out the Scobey's,
Aunt Bee said she could get the old lawn mower that Andy was always borrowing.
Would that have been a reference to a neighbor?
Also, could anyone tell me where the Carolina Panthers are located? I want to
root for them in the Super Bowl and would like to know where their stadium is.
Are they north or south? I couldn't find out from the usual sources.

Re: Didn't I read somewhere that Andy moved back to North Carolina
while he was doing Matlock?
He sure did. He moved to Manteo, a small town on Roanoke Island in
Dare county. He also has a house in Toluca Lake, California, just up
the street from Bob Hope's house. We went by a couple of years ago
when we were vacationing there, and took our picture standing in front
of his house. We waited, but his maid never came out to shoo us off.
His address is 4645 Ledge Avenue if anybody wants to go by sometime. I
don't know his address in Manteo. Anybody out there know it?

I have been watching McHale's Navy for the first time (it is being shown on a
local station)
and saw TAGS Emma Watson playing one of the sailor's mother on a visit for
mothers day.
Gomer Pyle comes on right after McHale and I also saw Goober playing a visit
to Gomer.
So I guess it was a Double Sighting lol

Ok, Ok, so right off the bat, you're probably thinking
something like, "what's up with an email on the top 5
food commercials."
Well, I had been watching Emeril Live and doing some
stuff on the computer. The show ended at about 9 PM
and the next program to come on was about the top 5
food commercials.
Ranking number 5 was an old Sanka Commercial.
Apparently back when TAGS was aired, Sanka was a
sponsor. So they did a segment on Sanka and how it
was served on TAGS and that Andy was the spokesman.
They continued with a few shots of Mount Airy
including the Snappy Lunch. They also had one lady on
that said, "my Aunt saw Andy drinking Sanka and
figured if it was good enough for Andy, it was good
enough for her. My Aunt is 90 years old now and she
STILL drinks Sanka."
Jim

Subject: Re: Food Network special
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Did anyone catch the Food Network special Thursday night, "Top Five"? They
had an hour devoted to food advertising, and they ticked off their five
favorite types of advertising (for example, character icons) followed by their
favorite example of each (for example, Elsie the Cow). One segment was devoted
to
"TV Tie-Ins," specifically to TV shows whose stars sold the sponsor's products
(Roy Rogers for Post Sugar Crisp, Pinky Lee for Tootsie Rolls). Guess who was
their favorite? Andy Taylor for Sanka. They showed a number of clips of
Sanka commercials shot especially for TAGS (one with Andy and a dog, another
with
Andy, Aunt Bee and a toothless Opie), along with some clips from "The Loaded
Goat" and "Aunt Bee's Medicine Man." They interviewed several people who
commented on how Andy was such a great salesman (including someone from the
Museum of TV and Radio in New York), *then* took their cameras to Mount Airy.
That
part of the show featured shots of the Snappy Lunch (and its famous pork chop
sandwich), and shots of the memorabilia at the visitor's center. (What they
didn't mention was that the gang also plugged a number of other General Foods
products, including Jell-O, Post Toasties, Sugar Crisp and Grape Nuts, Log
Cabin Syrup, Cool Whip and Shake 'N' Bake.)
I knew Andy was going to be featured in this special, so I watched (that and
I love old advertising)...but I had *no* idea they would devote so much time
to him. The Food Network tends to run these several times, so I *highly*
recommend tracking this one down and taping it. It's an hour long show but
Andy's
part is in the very first segment, about 10 minutes or so into the show.
