Also while rooting for the Carolina panthers give a shout out to their
QB Jake Delhomme, former N O Saint. He is from Breaux Bridge, LA

Hello, Mayberry friends! I found it terribly difficult to vote for only one
entry. They're all winners! Each statement of belief and conviction about
Mayberry is a warm, soft, gentle, but firm affirmation of who we are
personally. I felt that we were faithfully and happily reciting the village
creed in
every letter. Each entry shot a cupid's arrow right into the heart and soul of
our values, hopes, and dreams. Each shows a deep longing for a kinder,
gentler, simpler world that may have existed in our past realities, or at least
in
our minds. If I started it all by writing about the essence of our little
world being friendship, and how my best friends were met through Mayberry, then
your contributions are beautiful confirmations of my conclusions. God bless
you all, and long live Mayberry!

On 2004 July 21, Don will turn "the big Eight-O" Why not drop him a
birthday line at:
1854 South Beverly Glen, Suite 402, Los Angeles, CA 90025
Thanks for this info, John. July 21 was also my dad's birthday. I knew
there had to be one more reason (among many) that I like Don!

Last night's episode on TVLand, "Opie's Rival", has a scene with Andy and Opie
sitting around the campfire. Andy lays back and crosses his legs, and Opie
does likewise. This reminded me of a public service announcement from the 60s
showing a father and son sitting around the campfire. Whatever the dad did,
the son copied, until the dad lit up a cigarette. Then the announcer said
something like "Don't set a bad example for your kids." Does anyone else
remember this, or is my bucket on crooked??

I was sitting here this morning trying to stay warm..BRRRRR!!! Cincinnati is
cold and snowy today, and what better way than to think about TAGS!!! I just
wanted to remind everybody that today is Howard McNear's birthday, and he would
have been 99 years old!!! I try to image TAGS without Floyd and it just
doesn't work in my mind. Just like his impersonator Allen ("a real prince of
a fellow") adds so much to the reunion shows and gatherings, Mr. McNear added
so much to the show. Even in the episodes where he only had a small part..
like when Andy had a conversation with him about Calvin Coolidge in front of
the barber shop he is wonderful. I just crack up thinking about it, don't you?
I guess one of my favorite scenes with Floyd is when he is sitting in front
of the barber shop letting his pansies get some sun and Andy blocks the sun.
Of course he is never better than when Madeline Grayson comes to Mayberry. It
is such a shame that so many of the stars from TAGS!
have
passed away, but don't you know they are having a wonderful time in heaven!!
..........wretch...wretch....deceitful wretch......that's it...I'm going to
Nashville...........

Hi Folks,
I'm starting to convert all the TAGS material I have in my video collection
over to DVD and as part of that I'm looking to buy or borrow any of the old
Andy Griffith Show "Double Feature" tapes produced by Premier Promotions, or
any of Premier's 4 episode tapes that were released on different "themes".
If you have any of these you'd be willing to sell please e-mail me. If you're
worried about losing the episodes on them please contact me & we can work it
out where I can convert the tape to DVD, then send you a disc back.
Thanks,
Chad Palmer

Subject: Carolina Panthers Fact Sheet
Date: Tue, 27 Jan 2004 11:10:42 -0500
Since I live about as far from the Panthers' stadium as Mayberry is from Mt.
Pilot,
plus the roads here are a sheet of ice and I've got lots of time I thought
some of you
might be interested in some "Cat Facts". The team was granted an NFL
franchise and started playing 9 years ago. The primary owner, Jerry
Richardson, played with the
Baltimore Colts in their heyday and was on the receiving end of a number of
Johnny Unitas'
passes in the sixties. He took some playoff money, started a chain of
restaurants and made a fortune from Hardees and Denny's.
Amazingly in their second season the Panthers used a mix of vet. free agents
and draftees to make it to the NFC championship game before losing. Its been
downhill from there, with
enough players being arrested to fill the Mayberry Jail, Andy's House with
Aunt Bee as warden and more. The list includes a convicted murderer, a
player murdered by his wife
numerous DWI and assault arrests. After hitting bottom and losing an NFL
record 15 in a row 3 years ago, Mr. Richardson hired John Fox a former
assistant coach who has done an
excellent drafting and coaching job and seems to have most the priority back
on football.
They have great defensive and offensive front lines, a good running game and a
young quarterback who is as humble as he is good. (A real "Mayberry-type" kid
from all appearances.) They've won an amazing number of come-from-behind
victories this season.
Unless you're already a Pats fan, this year's CAROLINA Panthers are definitely
worthy
of your support.

Thanks to everyone who responded with the answer to my question regarding the
Carolina Panthers. Unfortunately, I have to work Sunday and will be too busy
to even think about the game so I expect all my fellow Mayberrians who are so
inclined to cheer the Panthers on. That brings up the question . . . what was
Opie's football team named? And here's another question, which may be kinda
stupid. Was Flip Conroy a real football player?

Just a heads up for anyone looking for one.
Item Number: 2456501302
I always think it's amazing when folks sell cars on eBay but this one is a
Galaxie but it is a 500 not a regular Galaxie. Looks good though. It in
Indianapolis.
Have fun looking at it.
