They do a number of things together in the spot. At the beginning, the
announcer says, "Like father, like son." Then at the end, when the dad grabs a
cigarette and the son picks up the pack, the announcer says, "Like
father...like
son? Think about it...a message from the American Cancer Society." BTW this
one occassionally popped up on CBS after the closing credits of TAGS, during
its prime time run.

The Andy/Barney "cousin" reference
I wish this could have been corrected so that they would know. I have
probably mentioned it in other places besides here, but, I've heard Andy, Don
and
even Sheldon Leonard (in the 30th Anniversary Special in 1990) say that they
only referred to Andy and Barney as cousins in the first show. That isn't
right,
it was in 3 shows (that I know of): "The New Housekeeper" ep. #1 (by Barney,
then Andy), "The Manhunt" #2 (By Andy), and the "Runaway Kid" ep. (by Barney,
not sure of the number, but, it's one of the first ones). So, I guess just as
long as we all know now, it's ok.

Here's my big-moulage for today! Is it All-a-n or All-e-n Newsome (aka Floyd
Lawson).
I think we have Aunt Bee's name settled, Bee not Bea, but I need to know
about Floyd, er Allan's name!

I looked at the Mayberry Police Car on Ebay at #2456501302. My aunt and uncle
sent me pictures they had taken of themselves standing in front of a car that
looked just like it in Coal City, Indiana. The location of the seller on Ebay
is listed as being in the area of Indianapolis, Indiana. This may be the same
police car that my aunt and uncle had their picture taken in front of, because
it looks exactly like the one in the pictures I was sent. It was sitting in
front of a restaurant at the time. It's going to be interesting to see what it
sells for. Garry

My favorite TAGS "drop" from Ben Matlock was when he was discussing a
robbery and described to someone that he once knew a man who called that
type of person a kleptamenirac. It brought a tear to my eye and a smile on
my face!!! ;)

I too remember that ad, David. When I saw it the first time, I also thought
of Andy and Opie around the campfire.

ha ha...It's A-L-L-A-N but I'm use to folks spelling it wrong so I don't worry
too much about it. BUT Aunt Bee's name spelled wrong...that bothers me. I think
I have issues. :)

I rem these ads too. There were several of them and they always ended with the
kid reaching for the pack
of cigs to keep copying his dad.
