Then that would be a recent switch because Tim Conway did it for a few years.

I just got word in my email this morning that Echostar and Viacom has
setttled its dispute, with Congress breathing down their collective necks. So
the
missing channels will be returned soon to the Dish Network and TV Land,
including our beloved Mayberry, is no longer threatened. Personally I have
cable but
I know we have some Dish subscribers on the list who were worried. No worry,
it's still there and they're not cutting down the big tree.

">Might not be a bad idea, >either, to watch the credits of the preceding TV
Land show, as announcer Tim Conway usually has a neat piece of trivia about the
upcoming TAGS episode.

That's not Tim Conway, it's Harry Shearer.<"

Actually, it's both Tim Conway and Harry Shearer. Tim, from McHale's Navy,
Carol Burnette Show, Dorf movies, etc. and Harry Shearer, from SNL in the
'80's, The Simpsons (he's Principal Skinner and Monty Burns, among others) and
some of my favorite movies, like This is Spinal Tap, and A Mighty Wind.

Both of these guys were/are hilarious.

 - Bee went to live with Sam and Mike because she felt that two women in the
same house (she and Helen) wouldn't work. Andy & Helen didn't move from
Mayberry until several months later; Sheriff Taylor appeared in three more RFD
episodes during its 1st season.

 - Bee broke her engagement to the Captain, when she realized that his first
love would always be the sea. (This was a 2-parter, toward the end of RFD's
1st season).

 - Bee left Mayberry to care for her ill sister in WV, as explained early in
season 3. (In the very first episode of RFD, this was also Bee's intended
destination, until Sam and Mike changed her mind).

 - The new housekeeper (season 3) was Sam's cousin Alice, a retired Army
sergeant played by Alice Ghostley.

This may not qualify for a talent but everything Barney ate went straight to

Subject: Andy's Practical Jokes
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Have we ever made a list of all the practical jokes Andy played on poor old
Barn. I can think of these to start with.
1. Andy switching hats on Barney while he was taking a nap.
2. Andy hiding Barney's shoes under the cot while he was taking a nap.
3. Andy putting lipstick on Barney while he was napping on the outside bench.
4. Coming up behind him and singing into the phone to Juanita.
5. Telling Barney that Opie had a horse.
6. Putting the goldfish in the drawer so Barney thought they could talk.
7. Telling Barney there were three cars parked outside and then having
Barney chalk the
     tires.

I am sure we can add to this list, as it seems like Andy was always picking
at Barn.

Hey gang,

I'm glad everyone is having fun with my question about Barney's many
talents. I was overwhelmed with the responses. Great job.!! I have high
hopes to compile them all into one list...kinda like a resume. So stay
tuned for that, if I can pull it off.

I saw a movie this week that reminded me a lot of Mayberry. Its called
"Mooseport" Now it is a PG or PG-13 movie and it does have a couple
off-color things, but for the most part it's a great story about a small
town. If you happen to watch it, lets compare notes. I think there were
lots of similarities to our favorite town, but of course not as good, and
definitely not as pure.

I got a brown suit that's real plain
