Subject: Indian References in Mayberry
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Got to thinking last night about references in Mayberry to Indians. I came
up with a list that I could remember. Can anyone add to this.
1. Opie Discovers America - reference to Pocohantos
2. Battle of Mayberry - many references to Indians including Tom Strongbow
3. Colonel Harvey's Indian Elixir
4. Howard for City Council - Floyd mentions getting the Indian vote
5. In the Freezer Episode Aunt Bee tells Opie he can't come to breakfast
dressed like a
"naked savage".
6. When bully Steve Quincy comes to town he asks the boys if they want to
Indian wrestle.
7. When Andy and Barney don't join the Esquires, Opie asks them to join the
Tomahawks.
8. Barney places the part and dresses like an Indian chief in the Lady
Mayberry Pageant.
9. When Ellie wants to give make-up to Frankie Flint, Barney calls it Female
Warpaint
10. Howard bought a six foot tall Indian statue when he redecorated his pad.
Bonus: In Mayberry RFD Goober got lost in Indian Caves.

TAGS never jumped the shark! It was always in the Nielsen Top Ten for its
entire network run. In fact, its last two seasons on the air, it placed Number
Two and Number One, respectively. Its highest rated single episode 'Barney
Hosts
a Summit Meeting' was from the last season. I like the color episodes as much
as the black and white episodes, but that, friends, is beating a dead horse.

Don't know what happened to John , but I was wondering, were there really all
those things for Aunt Bee and John to do in Mayberry or did they go to Mt.
Pilot?

"In the 1986 reunion show was Andys' old house gone.?? "
Yes, it was gone as was the entire original Mayberry. The 40 Acres lot had
already been bulldozed by then.
--------------------
"Didn't Amzie Strickland appear on TAGS? If so, what character?"
She played the following characters:
-Barney's first love interest, Miss Rosemary in the episode "Andy the
Matchmaker" from season one.
-Otis' sister in law in the episode "Deputy Otis"
-Mrs. Sims in the episode "Barney Fife, Realtor". The Sims were the couple
interested in buying Andy's house
-Myra Tucker in "The Bazaar" and "Aunt Bee on TV" (both color episodes)
I got this information under the cast member/episode title database at
www.mayberry.com. It is a great resource for those types of questions.

"I apologize for recommending the shark site to anyone who may have been
offended."
There is no need to apologize. I'm sure there are a lot of people who would
find the site interesting. I certainly did. It's just that because of some
of the content on the site, some of us (myself included) felt like we should
warn people, especially those who have children, not to expect the site to be
clean and positive like Mayberry. But that doesn't mean that we are
discouraging people from visiting the site, just that we want them to know what
to expect if they do. I don't think anyone meant to make you feel bad for
mentioning the site.

No, that's not possible. The Clampetts were from the Ozarks, which
would place them in or near Missouri. Must have been another Sarah.

A gentle reader asked about the lovely Amzie Strickland. Miss Strickland
first appeared in the episode
"Andy the Matchmaker" as Miss Rosemary. She also appeared as Lila in the
show where Barney
tries to sell the Taylor's house to the Sims. You can probably find her in
many other TAGS episodes.
Amzie Strickland has appeared in many other TV shows and movies. She is an
excellent actress.
I do not know if she is still with us or not, but I have always enjoyed her
whenever I see her.
Everyone should have a Sarah in his life, don't you think?

Hello everybody. Seems I must have misunderstood the comment I responded
to. I have recieved two e-mails about the Alan Hale subject. I thought the
question was asking if he was on the award show, that's why I said what I
did. Somebody help clear this up for me. I know he was on the show, that
happens to be one of my favorite shows. I will wait for this answer. By
the way how many shows was Ron Howard's father Rance on. I am thinking he
was on at least one. Anybody know this answer?
