Wasn't he also the driver of the governor's car that Barney ticketed in front
of the post office?

Jumping the shark refers to when the quality of a show slips, not its' ratings.
When Lucy went to a 1 hr format and moved to the suburbs, it jumped, when the
Brady Bunch brought on that kid Oliver, it jumped. When the Flintstones
introduced the great Gazoo (Harvey Korman), it jumped, etc. Dateline had an
interview with the patron saint of shark jumping; Ted McGinley last night, as
well as the creator of the JTS website.
"So Charlie, do you speak San Antonioian? Me, I don't speak a word of
it. Don Good"
Unfortunately, with the Spanglish spoken by too many around here, as well as
whatever weird language the snow birds speak, we true natives tend to hang
amongst our own kind and speak actual English, or something as close to it as
posssible. Unfortunately with the "Alamo" movie premier and the foreigners
here for the "Final 4" this weekend, there's all kinds of weird talk going on.
Wish this week would just be over. This is not usually a college basketball
town, thank goodness.
Saw Amzie Strickland on a commercial several months ago. I forgot what the
product was, some kind of duster or furniture wax? It definitely was her.

I was watching City Confidential or one such justice show on A&E the other
and they were talking to a retired detective who had worked on the case and
they had positioned him to the right of the shot so you could see this large
flag or banner that was hanging on the wall to his left. What should it
show but a badge and the title "Sheriff of Mayberry." There was never any
explanation, I could only guess that being a real law officer, he was a TAGS
fans and his fellow officers honored him with the title. It was kinda neat.

I saw Amzie Strickland in a commercial last year. I've forgotten the
product, but it was one where food scientists came to her kitchen to capture
the flavor of what she was cooking. They whisked her off along with her
cooking and the flavor became part of their product. The idea was their
stuff tasted like home cooking.
It was good to see Amzie still working. And does anybody know the story of
her name?

>The episode of Opie getting a job was on a couple of days ago. This is
>the one where Opie and another kid were competing to get the job in the
>grocery store delivering groceries.
In the beginnng of this episode Andy mentions Otis crashing his car. I guess
he bought another one have Barney left town.
>This mystery has probably been discussed before, but I saw the episode
>last night where John Canfield (The Congressman) moved back to Mayberry.
>Question: What ever happened to him? How about some guesses?
I asked this about a year ago as the ending has them relaxing and dozing
together on the front porch. I think it would have been a beautiful thing to
bring a love into Aunt Bee's life. Everyone else in town had one.
For those of you who ask questions like "What character did Amzie Strickland
play?" and how many Es are in Aunt Bee, I say SHAZAM, you haven't checked
out Allen Newsome's hard work on the "MAIN" Mayberry site?!?!? I go there
about once a week just to amble around and see what new and interesting
things he's done. You know a barber doesn't cut hair for 30 years without
learning SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!! It's very much like taking a stroll down Main
Street, Mayberry, NC.
Here's what you're missing by not dropping by............Mayberry web site
is just like the town, besides the sheriff's office, you have your:
newspaper (Digest, Bullet, archives),
Weaver's Dept. Store for ALL your Mayberry related items
a card shop (send a friend a Barney greeting card)
church (bible study)
audio media (sound files)
school (Miss Crumps quizes)
a front porch to sit and chat
phone service (chat room)
a library (fan fiction, episode guide)
arcade (game room)
and more, more, more
Go on, check out the site, give it some good!!!!!!
Harriet, taking my chickens up town now

I happened to watch two reruns of the show Quincy starring Jack Klugman. The
first episode featured our Col. Harvey as a doctor who drank too much. The
second had one of our favorite convicts, Sally. I love seeing anyone from TAGS
on other shows, don't you?

I got word this weekend that tickets for Colonel Tim's Talent Time are still
available, but in short supply and are no longer available online. If you
are interested in seeing that show, please call the Surry Arts Council at
1-800-286-6193. All other tickets are available (but the big shows on Friday
and Saturday always sell out by early summer). You can order those tickets
from their secure website www.surryarts.org.
All the latest information is on their website, but a couple of new/updated
events for this year include:
- Live theatre presentation of "No Time for Sergeants" on Friday night and
Sunday afternoon
- Professor Brower's Lecture will be combined with the TAGSRWC meeting on
Saturday afternoon.
- On Sunday morning, LeRoy and Jan McNees will lead the "Mayberry Days
Chapel" with a non-denominational service
