Or when Andy tries to explain to Opie why he gave up his prized fishin'
pole "eagle eye Annie" to get the bed jacket back for Aunt Bee after the
aborted two dozen dented canning jar attempt.

Hi,
They began airing the black and white Andy Griffith Show episodes on TV Land
two days ago. They jumped to the 1963 season. Does anyone have any
information about this? Does TV Land not have the rights to the earlier
seasons?
Would Alan or Jim Clark have the name of the actor who portrayed
Mr. Schwump?
Have a great Mayberry Day :O)

The only episode I can recall that fits that description is the one where
Opie steals Thelma Lou from Barney. Opie is in the kitchen as Thelma Lou is
making brownies ( half with pecans and half plain ) and Barney calls to see if
Thelma Lou wants to drive up to the duck pond that evening.
She won't talk to Barney and tells Opie, " Ask him again why he wants to go
to the duck pond. " Poor Barn hangs up in frustration and tells Andy that Opie
should not be allowed to answer the phone - he's a minor!
I'm almost finished reading Mayberry 101 - what a great book!

>>I love the idea of The Understudy. I believe someone else mentioned that
an episode on our favorite show also predated the idea of The Bachelor. No
telling how many shows on TV have their roots in TAGS.<<<<
Thanks Kim, that Bachelor tie-in was my idea too. I guess I'm one of the
few TAGS fans, along with you, that likes Reality shows. I guess I'm "a
nut"
>>>About lady drivers, I don't think I ever saw Helen drive a car. The
only time I remember Thelma Lou driving was when she was steering Barney's
car while Opie, Aunt Bee, Andy and Gomer pushed. Kim - Wylie, TX<<<
Thanks again Kim it's a busy week so many folks might have missed this here
is the original question again.
How many Lady Drivers can you name on the Show ...WHO DID NOT get put in
jail for their driving?
My short list is:
1) Aunt Bee
2) Lee Drake
3) The lady who comes to visit Floyd from the Lonely Hearts Club. (name
escapes me)
Did Peggy drive??? I know she had a fancy car.
4) Barney's mother--He stopped her and frisked her, so she must have been
driving.
If I'm not mistaken (but I usually am) we never see Thelma Lou, Helen,
Ellie, Mary Simpson, Charlene, Clara, Emma Watson, Flora, any of Aunt Bee's
assorted friends, or Millie drive.
The lady speeder and one of the Fun Girls drives, but they are arrested and
put in jail for their driving.
Who did we miss???
Sermon Topics
" I believe in Opie" (Mr. McBeevee)
" You got time to breathe, you got time for music" (emphasis on praise,
contentment) (Mountain Wedding)
"In our life we travel many roads"
"People sure are Odd" (Gomer the Houseguest)
On the subject of DVDs!!
I agree with Bob Brav. We probably will never see the color seasons on DVD.
Even among this group of rabid dedicated fans there are some that are "color
blind" (just a term for not fans of the color episodes).
But I'll take whatever I can get. I love my tapes, but its hard to find a
particular episode..and I have the desire at times to just watch shows in
order. DVDs will be great in those respects.
OK I'll stop talking about Schwamp and hair loss for a few days.

I don't know how many of you have checked out the many wonderful WAVE files on
the TAGSRWC web site provided by "Emmitt," but I have downloaded a bunch of
them. It's fun to just go through and play them all, one after another.
However, I recently discovered a new way to use my TAGS WAVE files. We just
switched to Earthlink, which gives you the option of selecting your own custom
sound to play when your e-mail messages are coming in. I presently have it set
to play the WAVE file of Gomer saying, "Gol-l-l-y!" Everytime I hear Gomer
announcing my incoming mail, I have to smile. I figure I'll rotate the WAVE
files every so often. I think the next one I'll use is Barney saying, "Nip it
in the bud!" It's really a great way to get your mail! If you find that your
e-mail program allows you to do this, I'd suggest you give it a try. After
all, you can't ever have too much Mayberry in your day!!

To include in your sermon, one liners of with a kernal of spiritual truth:
"I do believe in Opie"; says Andy in Mr. McBeevie.
"All God's children got a uvula",says Barney who can't sing a lick.
"Call the man", says Andy to Aunt Bea in the freezer that broke.
"Good luck to you and yours"
