Re: Green Acres and TAGS alumni...

I believe I once saw an operator named Sarah on Green Acres. They actually
showed her on TV.......Could this be our Sarah from Mayberry?

Members,
I see a few requests for "how to" regarding the wav files. Here's what I did.
Go to "THEM TIMERS ARE TRICKY" website and click on Emmetts wavs. There's a
whole lot of them there. Right click on each one you want to save and then
click "save as" and put it somewhere on your hard drive.

Step two involves going to your control panel (under the start menu) and
clicking on "sounds and mulitmedia". There, you will see different sound
events. You can click on a sound event (such as e-mail), then click your
browse button until you find the wav file you just saved. Then click it, and
click "apply". The next time you get e-mail, or there is an event you assigned
a sound to, you should here the wav.

Hope that helps everyone.

Lots of luck you and yers.

Subject: TAGS and NASCAR

Did anyone watch today's NASCAR race from Martinsville, VA on TV? When the
telecast started it showed a picture of a "Welcome to Martinsville" sign and
while they were giving a little bio on the town, the tune from TAGS (The
Fishin' Hole) was being whistled in the background.

To setup sound events on a Microsoft Windows PC, do
the following:

1) Download the sounds you want to your PC by
right-clicking on the link to the sound, and saving it
to your PC. A good site is the "Them Timers are
Tricky" site: http://cloud.prohosting.com/ttatwavs/

2) Click on the Start button, then Settings, then
Control Panel. Double click the "Sounds and Audio
Devices" icon. Click on the Sounds tab at the top of
the window.

3) Choose an event that you want to match with a sound
in the "Program Events" box. Some of the more popular
events are "New Mail Notification", "Start Windows",
and "Exit Windows".

4) Click the Browse button at the bottom of the window
and choose a sound downloaded in step 1. A speaker
icon will appear to the left of the events that have
sounds.

5) After you have attached sounds to the desired
events, click the "Save As" button at the top of the
window and give it a unique name (example - "Mayberry
Sounds 1")

6) Click the OK button, and you should be all set!
You can repeat steps 3-5 to create different groups of
Mayberry sounds. To change to a different group,
repeat step 2, choose the new group, then click OK.

I seem to remember a couple of times it is implied that Helen could drive a car
in the episode with the lawyer Lee Drake. Remember at Helen's house Andy left
to go to the courthouse and Andy told Helen to come and pick him up. Then when
Helen got to the courthouse in the car, Andy came out and told her to go get
the air in the tires checked just about the time Lee Drake came out to get
Andy. Although Helen is never seen actually driving she is behind the wheel of
the car. Also what about the time Helen and Andy got into an argument up at
the cabin with his old girlfriend and Howard. Helen jumped in the car and was
going to drive herself back to town but she and Andy got into it and she jumped
out of the car and ran off into the woods.

........Andy!!.......Andy!!........Don't you dare go off and leave me out
here.........

I was listening to Radio Old Time Drama last night on NPR and it was a
Gunsmoke episode from 1953. Who played the voice of Doc? None other than good
old
Floyd.
Following the broadcast, the announcer said that Howard McNair was already a
radio veteran in 1953.

I know it isn't really TAGS-related, but Calvin Coolidge did not say "We're
not retreating; we're advancing in another direction". Douglas MacArthur can
take credit for that one. But I'm sure that Calvin Coolidge must have said
something. You don't get to be President for five years without saying
something.
