Did someone mention the thief who was pulling the trailer? She was the
girlfriend of one of Alan Melvin's characters. She got in the car from the
passenger side with Barney in the front of it. He acted like he was going to
stop an 8 cylinder station wagon with his body, and would surely have been
crushed, but she forgot her smokes and had to go back inside the trailer.
Barney then jumped in and saved the day.

I'm leaving on a business trip around noon today and I just have to quote
our beloved barber: I'm going to Nashville!
(However, I am NOT a deceitful wretch.)

I have documented shows Howard McNear appeared in as far back as the 1930s,
when he frequently appeared on "The Lux Radio Theatre." I think he also popped
up a couple of times on Jack Benny's radio show.

I'd like to thank the people who told me who made that saying. My husband said
that he'd heard it before but couldn't remember who said it. It's a saying that
pretty much sums up how my life is these days. Don't back down, just go in a
different direction.
I'm not retreating, I'm advancing in another direction.

Yeah, but he got it from Calvin Coolidge.

All this talk about Calvin Coolidge got me to thinking: what *did* the guy
say? And I found this:

I made a spur of the moment trip to Mt. Airy last Thursday, so I'm finally
an "official" TAGS fan! I was in North Carolina for my college reunion and
added a few days to the trip to sightsee. My husband and I were heading
toward Winston-Salem and I saw the mileage sign that showed Mt. Airy was
just 30 miles north of Winston-Salem. I begged and cajoled my husband and
he finally gave in to my requests to go to the TAGS mecca!
Now, the spontaneity of the trip was fun, but unfortunately the lack of
advance planning caused some disappointment once we got there:
"Floyd's"(Russell's) barber shop is closed on Thursdays AND the Snappy Lunch
had closed for the afternoon (we arrived at 3:30). I still enjoyed my visit
immensely, took pictures, called other TAGS friends while standing in front
of Snappy Lunch, bought souvenirs, and basked in the joy of having trod some
of the same streets as Ange.

Did anyone remember the episode when Malloy's girlfriend was about to drive
their station wagon and trailer out of the trailer park, and Barney was hiding
in front of the car... he was huffing and puffing and gathering all his
strength together to try and keep that car from moving... fortunately, Malloy
called
his girlfriend back into the trailer or we might have had squashed Barney!
Then he jumped into the car and drove wildly back into Mayberry, capturing the
criminals... hilarious!
