y'all remind me of the country song, "She loves Elvis, she loves Andy and
she's fine and dandy with me!!" :-) I think they were writing about
me...don't y'all? LOL *smile*

Have a great day!

I had a Mayberry moment yesterday that I'll share. It was Honors Day at
the institution of higher learnin' where I work. As I was leaving the
auditorium, I spied a car slowly moving away with the license plate number
of JL-327. Now this is Kentucky, mind you, and I saw it was from the
county immediately to the north. Anyway, I caught up with the car and
driver. Turns out he's a real fan of the show (obviously) and the parent
of one of our finer students. I knew that everything is A-OK in
Mayberry. Of course, the down side is that now I know I can't get that
number for my car!

All this talk about Elvis reminded me of a great story Doug Dillard (the
Darling family banjo player) shared with me a few years ago. As Doug tells
it, back around 1964 or so, he was in a restaurant or hotel in Las Vegas,
when who should walk in but Elvis Presley. Doug knew he'd never get another
chance to meet Elvis, so he gathered up his courage and walked over to
introduce himself. Before Doug he could even give his name, Elvis blurted
out, "Hey, I know you! You're on The Andy Griffith Show!"

Well, it really wasn't a live alumni, it was Myers Lake. Green Acres needed
a lake last night and it that wasn't Myers Lake, it was his twin.

I recall Andy in more than 1 instance saying "You beat everything, you know
that?" Seems that Barney got it once and the Mayor also got it (remember
the bear).

But was this line solely Andy's? Or did Barn or anybody else ever use it?

Subject: TAGS Theme Jazzed Up
Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 08:57:26 -0500

Hi everybody:

Just wanted to let everybody know that there is a new CD out and if you're a
jazz fan AND a TV sitcom fan, you might enjoy it. It's called "Jazz for
Couch Potatoes" and includes about 11 TV Theme songs done with a jazz
flavor, including the TAGS Theme! It also features Bewitched, I Dream of
Jeanie, M*A*S*H, Mary Tyler Moore, Gilligan's Island, Gunsmoke, Taxi, The
Cosby Show, and a couple of others.

If you'd like to hear samples of the songs, go to:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=307&item=4008907808&r
d=1&ssPageName=WDVW

There's currently a copy of the CD up for bid on ebay and as of Tuesday
morning, the bid was only $0.01, with only a couple of days to go:

There's only two words for it..."It's goooooooooooooood!

Keith in Nebraska

Bobby Fleet's Trumpeter (replying to Andy's request to play the music
straight when they were helping out the Mayberry Town Band):

"Oh, man, Constable, like, I thought I was playing it straight, even a
little quaint."

Have you ever wondered why on earth in all the color versions were all the
rooms painted that same shade of green.

It's been a while since I shared a Mayberry moment. I was having lunch with a
friend today (who knows of my love for Mayberry). He was describing a
conversation with another friend and said "He was being so obtuse!" Of course I
said,
"I hate it when he gets obtuse!" A simple, but fulfilling Mayberry moment!
