Our back yard is all woods and I had it certified by the National Wildlife
Federation 20 years ago, so it has feeders, water, nest boxes and all, but
this year has been a year like no other when it comes to birds. Our back
yard is just alive with activity.
Last night, a grackle appeared on branch outside one of the windows and my
wife commented about how busy it was in the back yard. So I had to say it:
"Aren't the trees nice and full."

I just saw again the episode "Andy Discovers America" and noticed a couple of
things. There is a scene in the classroom where the kids are saying the pledge.
They say the FULL pledge, too. I certainly hope some nut doesn't decide THAT is
too politically incorrect and makes the networks censor it. That brings to mind
great moments in the history of our counrty. When Barney tells Andy his
formula for remembering 1776, that gets me, especially since he never said how
to remember 1492. Now I've come up with that formula. Like the first one, just
remember the number "1". Next, the number after "1" is "2", so we'll put that
last, you know on the other end. So we have 1 . . 2. Now, 1+2 is 3, right? So,
we just add the first number, "1" to 3, and we have 4. Since 4 is the second
number we got an answer to when we added, well put it second in the list. Now
we have 14 . 2. Here's the fun part. 1+4+2 is lucky 7! We take lucky 7 and add
the second number in the alphabet, "2"...and we !
get 9! Stick that in there in the empty space and we have 1492. See? It all
works out! Anyone got any other formulas for remembering dates?

Barney said "you beat everything" to Andy, when Andy was trying to sell
Barney that canon.

I do remember Barn saying "You beat everything." to Andy on at least one
occasion. I know it was when Andy was playing one of his practical jokes on
Barn.
May have been the buffalo nickel episode, but can't be sure.

Hey Everybody,
I am not the trained noticer like some of you are. I think Barney said "you
beat everything you know that" when Andy did not get a substitute for Otis.
This was the episode where Otis was to get Mayberry's Most Distinguished
Citizen Award and they wanted to get a replacement for Otis, because they were
afraid he would show up to the presentation drunk.
Have a Great Mayberry Day!
We are going to get the 100% Otis Campbell or should I say 100 proof. (Barney)

I may be mistaken, but I think that Andy is the only person to say this line.
You reminded me of one of Barney's lines that he hit Andy with a couple of
times - "Boy, you take the cake!"

Andy Griffith and Elvis Presley appeared together in a sketch on 'The Steve
Allen Show' around 1956. Howard McNear appeared in the Elvis flicks 'Blue
Hawaii' and 'Follow that Dream.' Nurse Peggy, Joanna Moore, was opposite Elvis
in
'Follow that Dream' as well. Sue Ane Langdon (Mary Simpson) appeared in
'Roustabout' and 'Frankie and Johnny.' Elvis would have loved a manicure from
Barbara Eden in 'Flaming Star.' Other character actors who guested on TAGS also
had
parts in various Elvis films. Among them are Bill Bixby and Jackie
Coogan.Elvis met Doug Dillard in 1964;Elvis met The Beatles in L.A. in 1965. At
least we
know now that Elvis had watched TAGS during its original run. I think the
pistol shooting at the T.V. sets in Graceland came after TAGS' run.

There are a bunch of the lyrics to songs and parts of songs that were heard in
the show. You can find them on the TAGSRWC web page. look on the menu on the
left for Songs from TAGS under the Information section of the menu.
http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc
Hey friends...just in case you cannot find the lyric you are looking for here,
I have the lyrics to an additional 15 or so songs heard on TAGS. Just e-mail
for a particular song lyric, or ask for the Mayberry e-Songbook, where I have
about 20-25 song and hymn lyrics from the show.

Not to mention most of the clothes, cars and anything else in sight. I
call the color eps the "green years" Funny when Aunt Bee worked for
that printer that was counterfeiting, printed Andy's cards in green ink,
but everything in that episode was green as well.
Except for that shirt that Opie wore in many color episodes. You know
what I'm talking about. Was yellow/orange/green print. I think they
called that "Madras" or something. Seems like whenever I flip on a color
episode he's wearing that thing.

Just saw the Don Rickles/Newton Monroe Episode
As Andy was discussing helping Newton get confidence and rehabilitate by
painting his porch, Barney said to Andy "You beat everything, you know
that!"
I wouldn't have remembered it had I not just seen it, so there may be
several others.

I agree, when I watch the color episodes I always wonder why in all of the
scenes filmed inside Andy's house everything looks so green!
