Did I miss something. Unfortunately, I haven't been reading the bulletin
board lately. Fortunately, I started reading again today. I saw an entry
about
a DVD from season 1 being released. I was wondering if this is something that
has been announced, or is it just wishful thinking.

Besides Sara, the telephone operator and of course, Juanita down at the
diner, were there any other characters in Mayberry who were mentioned but never
appeared?

"I can't remember the fellow's name, but he played Billy Hollander's dad in the
episode where Opie went to camp with the "rich kids." Anyway, I saw this
gentleman on the Dick Van Dyke special last night on TV Land."
The obvious TAGS alumni on the Dick Van Dyke reunion special was Jerry Van
Dyke, who played the deputy on one episode (#159, I believe?).
Without breaking rule #2, did anyone else notice that the DVDyke special was
full of about 10 minutes of storyline and 50 minutes of clips of the old show
and commercials? It helped me to appreciate "Return to Mayberry", from 1986,
which feautured few old clips, and seemed to pick up right where TAGS left off,
after almost 20 years. The storyline was somewhat unremarkable, but it was by
far the best reunion episode I've seen. (It did have an actress who wasn't the
real Aunt Bee doing a voice from beyond the grave which was strange). I've
realized I enjoy the originals so much better than reunion episodes, because
they are frozen in time and remind us of better times in our own lives, maybe.
The actors, writers, and crew were at their peak. I love reunion shows when
they sit around and talk about the old days, without trying to base it within a
storyline. The recent TAGS reunion shows were excellent. Just my 2 cents
worth.

Hello Mayberry fans,
Had to share a great Mayberry find with you.
I found a copy of Aunt Bee's Delicious Deserts in great condition for less
that 5 bucks at a re-sell it shop.
It has wonderful pictures and the recipes sound yummy! Can't wait to try
them out.
Have a Mayberry kind of week,
Eve
