All we need to protect the statue is to post Ol' Blue nearly by and put that
dog whistle at the statue with a note to blow it real hard before stealing
anything.

So, I wonder how long the thieves will be inarculated. Or is that when the
nurse gives you a shot?

Good news & bad news on the statue...

http://www.wral.com/news/3381593/detail.html

The fishing poles were returned to TV Land, but someone shot the statue (and
other things in that area of the park) with paintballs.

"In time, TV Land plans to fix the fishing poles and replace the plaque."

stake out time"!!!!! Also...can anyone out there help me find a digest member
called Mrs. Mendlebright? We used to e-mail back and forth but we lost
contact.I tried the members section but her e-mail is not current. She lived
in Cullman Alabama.
                                   Thanks,

I am deeply saddened by the theft of the plaque and the poles from the statue
of Andy and Opie in Raleigh. How sad that we live in a world where these sort
of things go on. I guess Old Barn was down at the picture show watching the
bikes or he would have used his body as a weapon to stop the perpetrator!
Malcolm might have stopped it from happening, but he was probably helping the
kids at the school crossing. Ernest T. might be a suspect but I reckon he
wouldn't need fishing poles because he's a meat eater who prefers possum. Do
you reckon Luke Jensen had anything to do with it... I always thought he had
hard feelings towards our Andy????

Re: What brand of jeans and sneakers did Opie wear?

I don't know about the jeans (although Opie seems like a "Levi's" kid
to me), but his sneakers were "Converse", also known as "All Stars",
also known as "Chuck Taylors", the kind I wear. I, however, refer to
mine as "Opie Taylors".
