The reason the airplane wasn't mentioned was likely because that's what Aunt
Bee did when she *thought* she hadn't had a major moment in her life! That
part where everyone is thinking back on their lives and on the unforgettable
moments (like Howard remembering his efforts to live on a Carribbean island) is
from that same episode where Aunt Bee later learns to fly, that's what set it
off. The point was, she had an incredible life even before she considered the
pilot's license.

There were a couple of other big moments I didn't see on the list: winning
over Opie's heart in the first episode, and her relationship with the
congressman.

Thanks for all of the help on the Blue Willow Dishes. I went to
bluewillowchina.com and found a set. Those are the right ones aren't they?
I just moved into a new home and I want to put them in my new china cabinet.
We also had a rock fireplace built just like the one in the Taylor home.
When people come to visit, they call it my Andy fireplace.

I also wanted to say thanks for all of the tips I get on the digest. My
husband and I are spending our anniversary at Mayberry Days this year. I
have always gone but just for Sat. I bought tickets for "No Time For
Sergeants", the "Mayberry Revue" and the spaghetti dinner. Are there any
other interesting things to do on Sat night? Do they always show a late
night movie at the cinema? I am open for suggestions.

Thanks,

Teresa Elkins

Good morning Mayberry!

I'm new to the digest, so excuse me if this has
already been covered. I've thought about this for
three years and this is the perfect community to share
the thought: Alan Jackson made a mistake. In his song
Where Were You, where he sings about individual
reactions to the World Trade Center bombing, he wrote
"Did you turn off that violent old movie you're
watchin'and turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns?". I
shouldn't be critical, but I wish he'd said "Andy
Griffith reruns" instead. It fits rhythmically and I'd
guess most of us yearned for the peace and quiet of
Mayberry after September 11. Perhaps Mr. Jackson was
trying to speak directly to New Yorkers, and who am I
to question his choices. It's a wonderful song by one
of the most talented folks out of Georgia since the
late Ray Charles.

Any others share the same thought or have any
comments?

Thanks!
Jay

Fellow Mayberrians,
I have a note on my computer calendar to send Don Knotts a card for his 80th
birthday on July 21st. Since I put this information in last year so I would
be reminded, I am now wondering where I am supposed to send it. I can't
remember if I have an address for Don. If I do I can't find it. Anybody know
an
address to send a birthday greeting?
Thank You,
Bee in New Concord, OH

The various positive comments about "Warren" and the color episodes of TAGS
got me thinking...

Everything is relative. If we were suddenly transported back in time and
thrust into the mode of watching the later years of TAGS without ever having
seen the earlier years, we would be literally "raving" about what a great show
it was, color episodes and Warren "and everything!".

Even these later episodes are representative of a time - an era - of
innocence, sometimes seemingly long past in our country. Perhaps I am too
sentimental, but I love TAGS, all years of it, for the standards of conduct,
fellowship and genuine respect and care for others that are represented
overtly or subtly in its presentation.

Perhaps we should strive to carry this message of "the way things should be"
from out of our hearts into our everyday living. Think of the impact that
might be felt, even nationally, if all of us returned to a more
"Mayberry-esque" form of interaction and lifestyle.

The discussion of TAGS names brings back some memories for me. We've had
several pets with TAGS names including a dog named Goober (chosen by my
daughter, bless her heart). The name was even more fitting after we had
him "fixed." It reminded me of Goober Pyle's dog named Spot 'cause he
didn't have any spots. *g*

Hello to all our Mayberry friends. This is not the kind of news I like to
pass on, but many of our Mayberry friends have asked about Neil & Pat
Coleman, due to the fact that they were missed at the Squad Car Nationals on
Saturday in Brent, AL. Neil's brother has been battling cancer and Pat
called us last night and told us that he had passed away on Tuesday. His
funeral will be Friday morning. They are hoping that they will be able to
come to Nashville either late Friday evening or Saturday morning. If anyone
would like to send them a card, I'm sure it will help with their loss at
this time. I'm sure they won't mind me giving out their address (since most
of you have it anyway).

Pat & Neil Coleman/410 Belleview Ave/Chillicothe, OH 45601. Allan, hope I
didn't break any rules by doing this. Hope all will have a safe trip to
Nashville that will be traveling. I know I'm all keyed up. See ya, on
Music Row.

Re: I, too, would love to see Jack Burns come to Mayberry Days in Mt.
Airy!

What a great idea! And aren't you the clever one for thinking of it?
Why don't we invite him? It would probably do his spirit good.

Now, who should do the inviting? I think the leader of our little
group should be the one. After all, he's got some pull around Mayberry.

Not sure if these were already posted, but:

* wearing the platinum wig

* winning the rose contest ( graciously deferred by Clara )

* getting the beautiful bed jacket

* brief engagements to Briscoe Darling and Mr. Goss

and of course, getting herself gassed and ending up in jail!
