To the FINE folks of our fair little town:
1. There is NO truth to the rumor that the overpass was put there to help any
person's business. This cruel type of rumor is a perfect example as to what the
Pike campaign will throw out there to confuse our FINE townfolk.
2. There is also NO truth to the rumor that I blackmailed our FINE sheriff
Andrew Taylor out of his BELOVED fishing rod which he refers to as "Eagle Eye
Annie". Again I suspect this came from the Pike camp.
3. There is also the rumor going around that I would not let Andrew split a
jail sentence for one of our POOR farmers so that he could get his crop in on
time. I am ashamed, ASHAMED I SAY, to even think that I would be excused of
such a thing.
I am thinking of calling my dear friend the governor to initiate an
investigation into the above matters! You can rest assured that Mayberry's
interests are always first on my mind!
