I just noticed that there were some topics that I missed, by not getting 3 Digests..so now that the Archives are working (thanks Allan) I just went back to read up...sorry if these have been addressed already.
>>>I was watching the episode, "Helen's Past" the other night, and I noticed that when the head of the school board comes out to Goober's garage, there is a chain link fence, with an open gate in the background behind the garage. Any idea what that was back there? John << John. believe it or not, that is Camp Henderson back there..where Gomer Pyle USMC was filmed. It just happened to be adjacent to the Gas Station on the 40 acres back lot. >>>Does anyone know the identity of the actress (or perhaps musician) who played Hazel? She was in at least 2 episodes - Barney and the Choir and The Song Festers - but wasn't listed in the credits. Like Mr. Schwamp, I don't think she ever said a word but could she ever tickle those ivories, especially on good-ole 14-A. I don't think we ever even knew her last name. Too bad Hazel wasn't even given an audition when Opie's band added a keyboard player. Of course, she probably couldn't have doubled as their manager like Clara did. .<<<< Ben you are absolutely right. Hazel is ranked #2 on my Mayberry mystery list as well.. The other day someone may a good observation that Barney's Girlfriends have no last names. Sorry to burst that bubble/theory but Juanita was referred to once by Andy as "Juanita Beasley." I saw the Cousin Gloria episode recently and two thoughts came to mind. 1) Andy and Helen could have both been a little more wise. I have defended Helen before about her being grouchy, but she got nervous before anything really happened.. Then Andy..like Aunt Bee said, shouldn't have thrown competition right in her face. The other thing is George Spence, who played Frank, Gloria's Ex-and renewed Beau. Someone has pointed out before that he is considered a TAGS alumnus after speaking just two words. "Hi Gloria". Now I know what my "extra" part should have been. I should have been Pierre. You know, Ellen Brown's (manicurist) old flame. I could have come in, said "Hello Ellen" and then planted a big one on her, like ole George (er Frank) did on Gloria. Man, would I be every guy's hero or what?
