What's the big deal about TVland? Just buy the complete season (all 8) and
watch when & where you want to. Forget the idiot box.

Well, here's my take on it. Of course you're right in stating that every fan
should buy the DVDs. Why? Because we know it's a great show. In fact, EVERY
person who buy TAGS on DVD already knows it's a great show. How do they know
this? (Pay attention, this is important): They know it's a great show because
they've already seen it on TV. If they've only become a fan in the last 7 or 8
years, then it's almost certain they've never watched on any other network
except TVLand.

Now, suppose you're looking through the DVDs at your local video store, and you
come across a boxed set of DVDs for an old TV show called "The Joe Shlabotnik
Show" (there's no such show, I just made it up). Would you buy the DVDs? Of
course not, you're never heard of this show, nor has anybody else. Who would
pay money for DVDs of a show nobody ever heard of?

That's why networks like TVLand are important. Sure, they show a lot of stupid
stuff that most of us will never watch, but my point is that if there ever
comes a time when no stations are airing TAGS, then eventually a day will come
when the young people of America are unaware that this show even exists, and
that would be a great shame.

Good thought Paul. I am lucky enough to live in an area that our local TV
station (CH 2 out of Greensboro) still shows Andy at 5:30 PM. (I think they
also show it late at night. Past my bed time tho) I still watch even tho I have
the complete 8 season DVDs. I have lived here since 1985, and to the best of my
recollection, CH 2 has always broadcast Andy at 5:30. It's become a ritual. It
always ticks me off that they chop it up so bad and leave off the end tags.
Many times I will go to the DVD and watch the same episode just to see what I
missed. Call me goofy but that's me. I do wonder tho how long they will keep
showing Andy. I think there must be a super fan base here, being close to Mount
Ariy, NC.
But not to sound selfish, I have my DVDs, so whatever TVland does, I just don't
care.
BTW, I do have the first 2 seasons of The Joe Shlabotnik Show. Your correct,
it's not a very good show.
