>>>>>I think that there may be two other possibilities to the question
of Otis appearing in an episode and not being in jail or drunk. I
mentioned the Mr. Goss episode and now I am wandering about the episode
of "Goodbye Sheriff Taylor". I can't really remember Otis being drunk
or in jail on this episode. Barney picks Goober, Judd, and Otis to be
his deputies while he is in charge.

Steve,
You are absolutely right!!
In Goodbye Sheriff Taylor, Otis was sober, and on the right side of the
law the entire episode (never in jail)!! That is the classic episode
where Barney throws a tomato at him. The only thing he does "wrong"
the entire episode is helping the little boy across the street that
doesn't need to cross ("We live on that side!").
This is the one time you would never know that Otis was the town drunk.
He never sets foot in jail or take a drink.
This episode is also one of the funniest epilogs (at the end of the
show). It also involves Otis. If you've never seem it, you need to.

To my other trivia question, still looking for others who never sat down
at the Taylor's Dinner table...but please see the my earlier post
(Issue 92 April 1st) for the exclusions and names already submitted by
Marie and others.
Steve, meet me at Dave's Coffee Shop and I'll buy you a cup.
