Hey to all,
Frank and I had a nice visit with our grand-daughter Meghan yesterday. She's
being raised right, Mayberry life concepts and all. While we were playing a
board game we heard someone come in the front door. Frank and Meghan went to
see who it was. I heard them talking, and went to se who it was. It was
Meghan's older brother Nathan Lee. I said "Oh, I didn't know who they were
talking to." Nathan replied, "It's me, it's me, it's Nathan Lee!" I of course
was proud of his up-bringing. "His education was worth every penny of it"
Well, we all went back to the board game. While we were playing, Nathan; a
sophomore in high school, shared some of his school day happenings with us. It
seems that in one of his classes, the students were taking a quiz and one of
the questions was a trivia question. They were asked, What color was Andy
Taylor's car? ...... Nathan told us, he just sat there totally blank. He said
he, at that moment, had no Idea who Andy Taylor was. He said he just drew a
blank. After a while, he did finally remember who "Our Hero, Andy Taylor" was,
but not what color his car was. I said "You do know now what color his car was
don't you?" I'm embarrassed to tell you, he didn't! I said, "He drove a squad
car"! Nathan said, "Oh yeah, black and white!"
That boy made me so proud, when he first arrived, and then knocked the wind
right out of my sails. He sat there and apologized profusely, for embarrassing
the family name, by not remembering something so basic.
Well, because he is "one of our's", I did forgive him, but I hope nothing
like that ever happens again, right out in public!
