My subject line is an exact quote "Eau Claire is not Mayberry" used by a local talk show host on one of our Eau Claire radio stations. What precipitated the comment was the fact that a middle school teacher in Eau Claire yesterday announced to five middle school classes that she is gay. I do not want to start a debate, but I just thought it was interesting how once again our beloved Mayberry entered into a very controversial debate. Bottom line is: no place is Mayberry. There is one and only one Mayberry and that is what makes it so special.
