--->Speaking of characters/actors laughing, another one is in "Ernest T.

Bass Joins the Army." While the physician is giving Ernest T. his exam
the army doctor (Paul Smith) laughs after one "classic" Ernest T.
remark. I imagine it was difficult to contain laughter when working with

Howard Morris - he was brilliant, and I wish they would have done more
stories/episodes with his character.

Andy Griffith addressed this in Richard Kelly's book. To paraphrase,he
said Ernest T. was one of those characters that took over every scene
and episode he was in, and a little bit of Ernest T. went a long way.
They didn't want to overdo it.
