To Brian who plans to go to Mt. Airy. Make sure you take time for all the shops downtown. Each have some neat things. Some are even little museums. The visitor center also has some things on Andy. I think his Matlock jacket is on display there but someone else might be able to confirm. If you like country singer Donna Fargo there is a museum for her also. Make sure you take a Squad Car tour of the city. It is a must. It can be found at Wally's. Next door you can go in and get some photos of a mock jail that looks just like the show set. You will think Barney will come busting in the door at any time. It is just up from downtown. Just ask anyone or call the squad car people for more info. I always like to stop in Mt. Airy on my way down south. If you get lucky you might see a bluegrass jam at the movie theater. Of course visit the barber shop and even get a haircut or some gossip. Plenty to do in town. The pork chop sandwich is the best. Also a visit to Pilot Mountain State Park might be fun too.
