This past Friday ,Saturday and Sunday,my wife and I were in Mt. Airy.We thought
we would visit other than just for Mayberry Days.We figured the streets and
stores would be akin to a ghost town.Boy,had we figured wrong! The stores were
doing a brisk business. We talked with a tour bus group from Alaska. There were
folks from Minnesota,Florida, and other states were represented as well.

Much to our delight, there was a fiddlers convention and bluegrass convention
going on.I guess people need a Mayberry fix as often as money/time will allow.

To those who have never visited Mt. Airy,I encourage you to consider doing
so.The townspeople and merchants are kinda like Bert Miller, not pushy at
all.Mayberry on Main has moved to a much larger venue to better serve
visitors.Speaking of visitors, the Mt. Airy Visitor's Center is receiving a much
needed facelift in order to better serve first timers there.

All in all,we had a terrific time as usual in our escape to a place as close to
Mayberry as possible.

After Mayberry Days in September,we will be going back a couple of weeks later
for The Autumn Leaves Festival.According to local merchants,Mt. Airy is usually
inundated with about 250,000 visitors for this event.
