>>>One line that Floyd says just cracks me up.  He says about his car, "she has
>>>a whine like a crying child."  What show is that from?
'I'M GOING TO NASHVILLE.  Brenda "Bee" Higgins  New Concord, OH

That's in "Family Visit."  Uncle Ollie has just roared away in the squad car,
sy-reens a-blastin', and when Andy rushes out to the street he sees Floyd, and
asks if he can borrow his car.  Floyd has only a couple of lines, but Howard
McNear's performance in that brief scene is brilliant.

>>>Hi, I have been watching quite a few of my DVD's lately and have noticed
>>>another character actor that appears in alot of episodes.I was wondering if
>>>any of you trained experts can tell me his name. I watched Barney Gets His
>>>Man today and he played officer Johnson. He also is driving the truck that
>>>hits Malcomb Meriwether while he is reading his map. And he appears at the
>>>beginning of an episode that Andy puts the lipstick on Barney's face....
>>>Frank Johnson
That's Bob McQuain, and he holds the record for playing the most different
characters on TAGS, something like 15 different roles.  It's hard to get an
exact count because sometimes his character's name is not mentioned, and it's
uncertain whether he's supposed to be the same person from a previous episode
or a new character altogether.  For the curious, Mary Lansing comes in second.
She played about 11 different Mayberry women before finally landing the
permanent role of Martha Clark.  Allan Melvin comes in third with eight
different roles, most of which were bad guys.
