"Was this the reason Siler City was mentioned so often on TAGS? Ok she retired
there but what about her origins? Did she live there before or during TAGS to
give reference to the city or is it a coincidence?"
Living close to Siler City and now frequently visiting "Aunt Bee's" grave, I
was always fascinated when she retired to the small town frequently mentioned
on the show. I'm not sure if it's true or not but it was always rumored that
she met some ladies from the area when she attended the famous "Rice Diet" at
Duke Medical Center and that is what led to her Siler City retirement. I do
know that she was pretty much a recluse in Siler City so whether she had any
close friends nearby is surely subject to debate. R.M. James
