Aunt Bee and Siler City -

She has the unique distinction of being the only player to endure the entire
run of The Andy Griffith Show, beginning with the pilot and remaining through
part of Mayberry, R.F.D. Bavier retired to Siler City, North Carolina after
leaving Mayberry, though she did subsequently appear in several commercials and
the children's movie Benji in 1974. She died on December 6, 1989 at the age of
87.

Was this the reason Siler City was mentioned so often on TAGS? Ok she retired
there but what about her origins? Did she live there before or during TAGS to
give reference to the city or is it a coincidence?

Also Id like to share this bit o trivia. I work with state inmates. I sometime
refer to TAGS during small talk with them. I know they can tell tall tales but
I had trush the one who told me this story.
He was hired as a yardworker by Miss Bavier IN Siler City. He didnt go in the
house but he did notice that Miss Bavier had LOTS of cats and their were fed
STEAK very often.

I wonder if anyone could support or disprove this bit o trivia ?

I love this forum and am really glad to be a part of it.
