Was Andy Griffith an only child? I had never realized that Big Maude and Mrs. Poultice were the same actress until someone mentioned it on the digest quite some time ago. Even though I know it now, I still have trouble seeing a resemblance. That's the actor of the woman, I guess. Some of the actors and actresses who thought they were second rate, were so wrong. The small role characters can make or break a show. I appreciate Mr. Kessel sharing his knowledge with us.
And, skating pretty close to rule number 2, there is one episode I cannot stand because of the minor character role and yet I believe that actor was considered to be pretty good. I did see him in a movie on TCM recently and his role didn't portray him as stupidly as it did on TAGS so now I think a little more highly of him. If a good actor can make you dislike him, then he's a good actor! A good example is Andy Griffith in A Face In The Crowd. Scary role and unsympathetic character. Andy Griffith also played a role in a TV movie as a judge who put two girls in jail for a traffic infraction or something. While there, one of the girls was raped. I saw this movie before I had seen any TAGS, and I could hardly stand Mr. Griffith. And now I am a fan of TAGS and never want to leave Mayberry and our sheriff. A long time ago, we discussed Ellie Walker's middle name and I believe the consensus was that there was none mentioned on the show. She was erroneously thought to be Ellie Mae because Andy once said, "Elly, may I say that behind that pretty face . . ." something. So. Is Mae her middle name or not? And finally, is the episode in which Otis buys a car the only episode with just three of the characters shown? And that reminds me of Charlie Varney who used to post here frequently. I hope all is well with him. Kind behind the eyes _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
