I've always been impressed with the quality of phone service in Mayberry.
Efficient, courteous, dependable. Good to know that Hooterville is finally
achieving that same level of quality. According to Fred Ziffle, ar one time
Hooterville was using soup cans and string for telephoning. Said Fred, "We used
tomato for local, chicken noodle for long distance, and minestrone for
international.
When phones got rusty and reception sounded bad, we'd go to Drucker's and buy
a new one for two-bits at lunchtime."
