Yes, there definitely was a radio program in the 40s and 50s called The
Whistler. It's theme song, sure enough, was whistled and later on, their
sponsor Signal Gasoline used the same whistle tune for their commercials when
The Whistler aired. I know this because I found The Whistler on EBay and the
mp3 CDs had episodes from the 40s and 50s on them. I don't remember Old Time
Radio, but I sure enjoy listening to it! I like it when TAGS characters (like
Floyd and Mayor Stoner) made their appearances.

"In the best of times, our days are numbered anyway. And so it would be
a crime against nature for any generation to take the world crisis so
solemnly that we would put off doing those things for which we were
intended for in the first place, the opportunity to do good work, to fall
in love, to enjoy friends, to hit a ball and to bounce a baby" --Alistaire Cooke
