I have been a church orchestra director for about 20 years now. A while back I came across a wonderful arrangement of "Peace Like a River" by Robert Sterling, which you can listen to at the following link: http://wordmusic.com/products/book.cfm?upc=080689369575 Not only does it sound quite a bit like the jazz version of The Andy Griffith Theme, but the melody is where it belongs: with the tuba! Those of you who belong to churches with an orchestra might want to recommend this piece to your director. It's in the Count Basie style, which might be considered inappropriate for some churches, but give it a listen and see what you think.
