Do you think?maybe Aunt Bee just put the groceries and household items on an
account and that Andy later paid for it?? It was a cash generation, but credit
was extended in the form of "charge" accounts where a total was just kept by
the business and the customer paid it (cash) when they came in.... Remember the
episode where the charge accounts?were cut off? We know they existed - so maybe
Aunt Bee charged the household items?

Then again, although I can't think of it right off the top of my head, don't we
see Aunt Bee take her purse out and pay for things some times. And wasn't there
cash in the purse she had stolen from the carnival? She had SOME money........

"Have you ever noticed you hardly ever see Andy taking out his wallet? Once
when
Jubal Foster's barn burned down he took out his checkbook, but I do not recall
ever seeing him taking out his wallet. Back in the 60's I saw my father take
his wallet out a lot because that decade was mostly a cash decade. Not too
many
credit cards.
Specifically, I do not recall Andy ever giving Aunt Bea any money for household
expenses. I wonder if Aunt Bea was on Andy's checking account?"
