Well, not that I would ever discourage a biblical reference, but my grandmother was from Virginia and they often prefaced a statement by saying, " I tell you the truth.." Another good one that I noticed in Mayberry that my grandmother also said was, "_________, I'd be ASHAMED!" That cracked me up when Andy said that to Aunt Bee because I heard that a lot when visiting my grandmother.
