Hello to all. We wanted to update our friends and fellow Mayberrians . Russell Hiatt (Floyd's City Barber Shop in Mount Airy) is doing well. He is a prince of a fellow. Charles Dowell (owner of Snappy Lunch in Mount Airy) had a stroke a few months back and is now at home, doing as well as he can be. Mary Dowell (his wife) came in our shop - Mayberry On Main - and said that he is walking on his own and they are trying to get things back to normal.
Also, prog r ess is going very well on the Andy Griffith Playhouse addition that will house the Andy Griffith Collection. Today's Mt. Airy news reports that they plan to have it open for 2009 Mayberry Days ! That's big. www.mtairynews.com . Mount Airy, is having a Downtown, 4th of July Parade, this year. If any of you can come to the parade, it should be a good one, and The Surry Arts Council will be having a free Concert at 1:00pm at the Blackman Amphitheatre with the 208th Army Band. Then there will be fireworks at Veterans Park at dark. Talk about big!!! Hope everyone is well and we hope that you can visit us sometime soon. We look forward to seeing everyone for Mayberry Days ! Live webcam is back and can be seen at www . mayberryonmain .com . Keep a good thought !
