Did Elmo own a drugstore in Mayberry? I always thought it was perhaps a
hardware store or sporting goods store. In Mayberry RFD if was a hardware
store because Emmett bought his bike there when he and Sam, Goober, and
Howard started their bike club. When Andy and Helen look at Aunt Bee's
pictures from Mexico with Elmo at his store you can see a large fish on the
wall and also cameras on the counter as well as golf clubs in the
background. This has always led me to believe that he probably had a
sporting good store or something like that and just had the photo developing
service as well.
Any thoughts of this theory.
