I had been holding off talking about a female deputy to replace Barney,
because I thought sure someone would think of my nominee, but so far no one
has.
My nominee would be Mary Grace Gossage. After all if she is manly enough to be
a big time carpenter with her brother Alf, she should be manly enough to
enforce the law. But I guess she left Mayberry after her true love, Gomer,
joined the USMC and she moved to Hooterville.
Orville Hendricks - Butter and Egg Man - Martha could never be the deputy in
Mayberry, just not manly enough.
